Anyone care to report on a recent visit or point me to a review thread?

We have a reservation as both my dd's think they would enjoy this. We did it several years ago and I don't remember it being a WOW but my oldest dd apparently remembers loving it :)

I have peeked at the menu but can't find out to much about the show.

Thanks everyone,

TJ

We were there July 8, 2009 with our two small boys....We had a great time...Actually my 4 year old asked me todayif we are going back to the HDD in November because it was "so much fun"...

The ribs and fried chicken were excellent...DH was very happy with his endless supply of beer...Kids loved the corn bread...The salad was good...the beans were okay...

The show is still the same...GREAT FUN...we were all smiling, laughing and clapping through the night...Great time and worth every $$ for us...

We will be back next July :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

My DDs are 10 and 13. Would older school-aged children and teenagers enjoy it as much as the younger children?

Cannot say for sure but my guess is yes, they would enjoy it...We saw many families with teens there and they were smiling too...

Although they may "act" like they are too cool to really enjoy it...My 12 year old nephew is like that...He hastes to admit that he enjoys that type of thing but we can catch him smiling when we does not think anyone is watching.

Thanks - I feel better about the ADR already !

My dd's are 12 and 14 and very much looking forward to this.

I don't think you'll be disappointed! We always have a fantastic time- the show is fun, the food is yummy, and the all you can drink sangria is great :thumbsup2

I went on July 17th with my boys 17 and 15 and my daughter 13 amd they all loved it even though I wasnt sure they would. They have all requested we do it again next year

We love HDR. My kids will be 22, 17, 13 when we go in December. The 22 year old is the one that objected loudest when I suggested that we do somehting else this time. He said that it would be "unbearable" to not do HDR our first night. Hope you have as good a time as we do.

We went in Feb. my then 14yo and 9 yo thought it was hysterical. We had level one tickets and they made fun of the 14yo which he still thinks was so funny. The food was good and the sangria kept coming - lots of fun!

We are considering doing this for the first time too. We have 21, 20 and 5 year old. With the dining plan you can only get levels 2 and 3 unless you wait till the last show...are those still good seats?

I was just there on July 28th. It is as much fun as we have ever had although the "blond" actress did not have the "laugh" down well. Those of you who are HDDR veterans will know exactly what I mean!! I've been about 5 times and usually that actress (who is different each time I've been) gets it right but this one was a little off.

Fried chicken this time was better than past times. Very hot, very crisp.

All seats are good but category 1 are definitely the best.

The kids in my group were 18, 17, and 14. The LOVE this show. The 18 y/o old said that, overall, that was his best dining experience at WDW.

We pay OOP for Cat. 1...The seats are sooooo good and you really feel part of the show...The other seats are not bad but just not as good...If you in cat. 3 people in your party may be in seats that do not face the stage but turn for you to see the stage...Cat. 2 is the way to go if you must...We are always on the DDP and end up paying for a couple of meals OOP anyway...Thsi way we have 2 credits for 2 other meals...We have done the math and it works out best for us to just pay the cash and get the best seats.

How long does the show last? We usually do OOP too for some ADR's but wanted to keep from doing it this time since the trip is longer and costing more with 2 rooms. So if we do the late show we could do catagory 1 but since we are going during Thanksgiving week, I was trying to do earlier dinners to get an early start on our day...What to do, what to do!:confused3 late catagory 1 or early catagory 2?

I'm happy to hear these good reviews - Our group of 4 25-year-olds decided to use 2 of our TS credits toward it because none of us have ever been and it seemed fun...I'd also be lieing if I didn't say that the unlimited Sangria played a role in our decision!

The show runs approximately 1 1/2 hrs. We usually pay OOP for cat.1 (it's right in the middle of the room. Cat.2 is around the sides and in the back. It's on the floor and still in the middle of everything. I would say it depends on
your eating habits. Do you want to eat early or late? Remember--the times are seating times--not eating times. Add on about 15 minutes before the main course of chicken, ribs, etc. When you sit down there will be a big bucket of salad and corn bread to start with. You can also probably get the later time a lot quicker than any other times. They tend to go faster.

Thanks! So from seating time 930 till finish...what time would you think it would be over? I still can't decide what to do about this...level 1 late or level 2/3 early...

I think you can pay OOP for the difference in price from category 2 to category 1 if you are using DDP. I think it's less than 10 dollars a person. Does anyone know?

I was told I could not pay OOP to upgrade from category 2 to category 1. The only way you can sit in category 1 on the dining plan is to book the 9:30 show, or pay entirely OOP instead of using your credits.

Thanks for clarifying! Sorry for the misinformation OP!
