Hoop De Do

We were told about the time change by a CM when we called to book HDDR directly. It was my uneducated guess (based on reports that some shows have had very low attendance) that they were going from 3 shows to 2 shows. It just makes sense to me, since they'd have to temporarily close the ADR's to new guests while they decide on new show hours, notify guests with existing reservations and allow them to choose from the new show times before opening it back up to the public. That could explain why it hasn't been available to book for a few weeks now.

I'll go back to reading and not responding.
I was just looking for more info, not seeking to make you defensive. I'm sorry if you felt that way, it was not my intention.

There have been issues booking HDDR since September (i mean since for september bookings). So 4 months worth of bookings have been all screwed up. If this is a planned outage of HDDR bookings while they change the schedule it has got to be second only to RoL in complexity!

We haven't been able to get a reservation at all during Thanksgiving, which we thought was odd since it has never been hard to get a reservation.

Tammi, I really don't think anyone meant anything negative towards you. It's just been an ongoing question about HDDR and why it's been so difficult to book, your information is the first plausible explanation of what's going on. It's just natural that people wanted to know where that information came from, and I know I appreciate the follow-up.

Sorry I jumped to the defensive. I haven't posted on these boards for a very long time due to some previous bad experiences here. Guess I was being overly sensitive. My apologies.

The idea of them going to 2 shows definitely sounds plausible. As another wrench in this discussion though ... someone on a different thread mentioned that alot of availability in August suddenly opened up on July 1. There has also been discussions by people that they are just holding back the 6:15 show to fill up the other 2 shows. As we have been trying to book the 6:15 show for October 23 since our window opened, we are hoping that maybe on September 1 the availability for October will increase!

I have been watching the 6:15 show like a hawk since our 180 days back in April for Oct. Wethegrl was right in that the 6:15 show just opened for Aug. bookings last week. I do not believe for a minute that the times will be changed especially for Sept. and Nov. or that the shows are already sold out When the MK closes for MNSSHP 4 nights a week and there are special meal offerings at Epcot restaurants for F & W. You still need other venues to be open. I truly believe they are trying to fill the other shows first. We have been going to the 6:15 show for ten years+ and have never run into a sold out HDD in the fall or mid Dec. time period. Just my 2 cents.

No worries. I really was just asking for more info and I tried to make it clear that I wasn't being snarky with you. Like everyone else, just trying to figure out what is going on ;)

that would be kind of jerky, lol.

That said I think people were reporting NO availability for ANY show in December (although I did book 6:15 right at my window). This could backfire for disney as people might just make other plans.

I don't make the reservations in my family often, but the man in charge reports that he hasn't had any trouble booking shows at HDD yet, including in early October. Granted, he books at 180 on the dot, so who knows.

As far as changing show times, I would be all for it. We usually book the 6:15, but I'd like to see that become a 7 or 7:30 showing. It's a little early for us on the dinner side, where 8:30 is too late for my dad and the early show is definitely too early. I think a 4:30 or 5 show for people with young kids who eat early and sleep early would be good, and then a later show for older folks would be great. And I can't imagine that it's logistically easy to do three shows a night with their turn around rate. That's a lot of cleaning, cooking, re-decorating, and performing in a very short time. Plus, two shows pretty much guarantees full houses, and cutting a show means lower cost. It's probably the smartest move Disney could make where HDD is concerned right now, if they make it.

I was able to book for late August at 6:15 after being unable to previously. Apparently this month by month plan is in effect, makes no sense but it seems to be the case.

I have been trying since our 180 day window opened up last week for anytime the first 13 days in January. I have called, looked online, and nothing open yet. A phone call to dining reservations about 5:30 CST today told me to keep checking daily. Apparently, they have not opened that up yet. gGRrr!!

My 180+ 10 opened up yesterday and I couldn't book it. When I try on MDE I get an error. When I called the CM said it wasn't loaded yet & to keep trying.

Oh good I am not alone in this inability to book! Anyone have any tips for what they did to actually secure a reservation? Am trying for a December trip and the lady on the phone was completely not helpful. She simply checked all my possible days and times and said they are unavailable but she cannot say if they are booked or just not available to be booked.

The way things are going, you will probably have to wait until November to book. Of course, like everything at Disney, that could very easily change.

I just got off the phone with the DVC CM for booking reservations, and she told me that Hoop Dee Doo is refurbishing their floor this Winter, and they aren't sure when the construction will begin or end. Apparently the Pioneer Hall itself "releases" the dates for the shows, but is holding off until they know for sure when the construction will be done.

I am trying to get in mid-January, so it goes that far out.

I've always booked it when I got there. Just go to the concierge at your resort and they'll help you. There was always vacancy. Enjoy!

refinishing the floor should take a couple of days. there have been booking issues for months, right now nearly 4 months of times are unavailable - some just have the 6:15 unavailable but the 4 and 8:30 can be booked. Something else is going on.

Yeah, even at "Disney speed" it shouldn't take that long to refinish a floor. And if they are being closed for an exteded period for some other reason, you'd like there would already be some rumors to that effect.

The rumor about switching to just two shows per night seems the most plausable (or some hybrid system where they do either two or three shows per night, depending on demand).

THe month in advance reservations---are they for all shows or just the 6:15? I would love to get the earlier show for October.
