Is this worth the price? I looked at pricing today and omg, it's gonna be ~ 250 plus for dinner for a family of 5. Is there any way to get a discount, besides AAA and the dining plan? thats alot of fairy dust right there!

HDDR is not inexpensive. We do it about every third trip to the Fort. But I do like it. Here's the way I look at it.

1. The price includes tax and tip (back off about 28% of the price).

2. The price includes all-you-can-eat food (compare to other buffets on property)

3. The price includes all-you-can-drink beer and sangria (don't know about the sangria but the beer is cold and refills available when asked. I think it's a basic domestic with upcharges for high end or foreign beers).

4. The price includes a show. (compare to other full shows on property).

For the value one receives, I think it is worth the expense. But from a practical standpoint, I can't afford it every time I go to the Fort (five people in my family all adults for dining purposes).

Maybe opt for the Trails End buffet. Or a nice table service dinner in one of the theme parks.

I think it is two credits on the Dining Plan. We never do the Dining Plan because it doesn't make sense for us economically. HDDR's not a "got-to-do". But it is a "nice-to-do".

I agree with ED, it is a very nice thing to do. We have gone twice and both occasions our son was picked to be on stage. The nice to do thing became magical! The food is pretty good and the show is entertaining.

For my family this show is a must! We simply love the food, the show, the jokes and good 'ol Six Bits. I shudder to think what would happen to me if I tried to plan a Disney vacation without including this in our itinerary....:scared:

We love it! It's so expensive, we can't do it every visit (we go to WDW once or twice every year) but we try to see it at least every other visit!! Even our "too cool" teenager loves it. :thumbsup2

If you can do it, it's well worth the price! :goodvibes

We do it every time. First time the kids were 4 and 6, last time 10 and 12. Each of the four times we went, we made reservations at the 180 day mark and paid for the tier 1 seating. We have never been more than 3 tables from the stage. It may be corny, but every body loves going to the show. We have done Mickey's Back Yard BBQ, the Luau, and eaten at the castle. None come close to the HoopDeeDo except for price. We will do it next time we go again.

I did this show approximately 20 yrs ago. I have a picture of my teenage son (at the time, he is 38 now) playing the washboard. It was my favorite picture of him. He wouldnt smile for pictures at the time (it wasnt cool) but he had a great time and is smiling for the picture. I would recommend this show to everyone! My 28 yr old daughter still talks about it. She was 8 at the time.
