Honorary Citizen of Disneyland

Got a question for all of you Disneyland experts

When we were there for our recent trip, DS was approached by a Cast Member and was asked if he would like to be a Honorary Citizen of Disneyland. He of course said yes, and she gave him a butten that said Honorary Citizen. We're now curious, what, if anything did this mean? Was there any significance to this or was it just a quirky, but cool thing to get? We were sort of hoping it would give him access to a fast pass lane or two, but no. He loves the button and will keep it as a treasure, but now we're just curious as to the meaning (if any) behind it.

DD and I were chosen as Honorary Citizens one morning while standing at the front of the line to enter DL. We, along with another family, were able to enter the park, have our pics taken and then lead the countdown to open DL!! It was a great experience At that time they didn't have buttons, we received Honorary Citizen stickers!

Everybody who goes to 'Early Morning Toontown Madness' (it was a special ticket that came /w our vacation package) gets a button that says "Honorary Citizen of Toontown" ... no significance to it though ...

I got one when we got our tickets.

The guy asked us if this was our first time, and we said "No, third".

He said "Frequent fliers... that means you are Honorary Citizens"

I went into city hall (is that what it's called) to get a birthday button for myself, and they asked if my son (he was on my back in the Ergo) had been there before. He had, but that time he was only 1, and now he was 2 so it was all new. And they gave him an Honorary Citizen button.

I think they are nice, but I don't think they are *special*.
