Honor Society Induction Ceremony

I recieved a letter yesterday for eligibility to be a member or Alpha Beta Kappa National Honor Society!

I am so happy... as a full time working mother of 3 as well as a full time student, I nearly dropped to my knees out of pure joy! My husband and kids were beyond ecstatic. Only problem is.... the ceremony is on the exact day I am leaving to Disney!! Ahhhhh
I don't know what to do. The dean said it was a small ceremony.
My plan was to go ahead to disney and habe them save my pin and cord for me. To change four flights will cost a lot of money and this is already a very budget friendly trip.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated! TIA!

For me, the honor would be the important thing. I don't really enjoy ceremonies or being the center of attention so not attending wouldn't be a sacrifice for me.

I'd accept membership, offer my regrets for not being able to attend, and ask when I could pick up the cord and pin. Then I'd celebrate at WDW with a special drink or meal- a better use of the money than changing flights for me.

Congrats! It's nice to have your hard work recognized.

When I went to one it was a pretty small ceremony. They had a local politician as a guest speaker and we sat in the front row. Then they called us across the stage, gave us our stuff and a handshake, and we went back to our seat. I'm not much on ceremony, so for me I'd rather be at Disney! But definitely make sure you celebrate a little extra while you're there
