Hi all I am brand new to DISboards. I have been looking around and there are a lot of great information for Disney goers. This summer my fiancé and I are getting married in our hometown and we are going to Disney World for our honeymoon. We would really appreciate any information or tips we could get for our trip. Thanks!!

Welcome & congrats!!! When are you going and where you staying?? What type of tips would you like?? There is a ton of info and opinions on the boards . I've been to WDW about 20 times in past 12 years but am currently planning my honeymoon there too. My most important advice is to plan but accept you won't see it all. Pick your most important things to see and then do what else you can in your time. Relax, be a kid and enjoy!!!

Congratulations! We Honeymooned in WDW in 2006! A big thing is wearing the Bride and Groom Ear Hats and Buttons! its amazing how much extra attention you get by wearing them.

I completely agree with the above poster - make sure to wear your ear hats (obviously only if you want to) and get your special button. These alone will definitely make you feel the honeymoon spirit! DH and I got married last summer and had the best time. If you are staying on property, let the resort know its your honeymoon as well as the restaurants in which you dine. Otherwise, just have fun! DH and I rented a pontoon boat on one of the days and cruised around the lake around downtown Disney for an hour and had a blast! We also had dinner at Jiko (our first time) and we received a signed card from all of the cast members working there congratulating us in different languages.

Welcome and congrats on your upcoming wedding! DH and I honeymooned at Disney in 2011. We had an amazing time. We stayed at the Beach Club.

I would definitely recommend staying at one of the deluxe resorts if you can. The Epcot area resorts are beautiful and you can walk or take the boat to Hollywood Studios and Epcot (which will definitely save you time from having to wait for the buses!)

As far as things to do, you could eat at some of the signature restaurants, take a carriage ride around POR, rent one of the pontoon boats around Bay Lake, and just relax and have fun.

Don’t forget your bride and groom ears too!

We had our wedding & honeymoon in WDW-what an amazing time we had!:goodvibes

IF you can afford it, I would recommend staying club level, just for that extra amount of pampering :) Some CL resorts also offer gorgeous views of the fireworks.

Wear Just Married or Happily Ever After pins.

What time of year will you be there? There are lots of special events going on in the parks during different times of year, for you to take part in as well.

Be sure to note on your dining reservations that you are on your honeymoon.

Splurge on a fancy dinner at Victoria & Alberts.

You are going to have such a wonderful time!!

Don't mean to hi-jack...but where do you get the "Just Married" pins? At City Hall? Thanks!:confused3 Congrats!!

They are discontinuing the just married buttons. There aren't many left :/

There have been brides that have gotten lucky by just asking around, so definitely try that if you want some. Otherwise, you'll get the happily ever after pins. Good luck!

Congrats! My fiancé and I are planning our honeymoon to WDW over New Years and we have already discussed how we are going into this knowing we aren't going to "commando tour" but instead will go at a more relaxed pace. We are looking forward to doing dinner at California Grill @ the Contemporary. If you're able to spend a non-park day, there is tons of stuff to do on property that would be a nice break from the crowds at the parks (rent water mice, bikes to ride around select resorts, shopping, dining, etc).

I really love the MK fireworks, Wishes. You should definitely make time to see those.

Thank you everyone for all of the advice so far. We are staying at the Port Orleans French Quarter. We will be there for a week in July. We have most of our dining reservations set up and we are really starting to get excited about it.

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! Did you have it noted on your dining reservations that you'll be on your honeymoon? Like others said, go in knowing you won't get to see everything. Take time to slow down a bit - watch fireworks from the Poly beach or Cali Grill. Take a boat ride whenever possible. We like to hop on the monorail and tour each of the resorts - usually getting a cupcake or a treat at each one. :lovestruc Even if it's just stopping to enjoy a show or two at the parks (i.e. Citizens of Hollywood at DHS), just take time to enjoy the details. Hope you have a fabulous time! :cloud9:

We had our honeymoon at WDW in 2009 :-)

You can prepare a Disney honeymoon registry online and have guests "buy" things you want to do on your honeymoon! You can register for pretty much anything, dinners, events, tours, etc!

The carriage ride through Port Orleans Riverside was very romantic and taking surfing lessons at the Typhoon Lagoon wave pool was one of our favorite experiences! And we also did the Dolphins in Depth tour at Epcot and one of the Animal Kingdom back lot tours. I would also look into preordering a Photo Pass package so you can enjoy your honeymoon without being camera crazy.

We are honeymooning at Disney in November, and these are some great tips! We are staying at Port Orleans Riverside.

MouseMama11...how do you do the online registry? Sorry I am being dumb! :confused3I have never heard of this. It would be a great option for our guest!! Thanks for the info!! :goodvibes

You are not dumb!! My mom has DVC and gave us points for our honeymoon as a wedding present so she found all this stuff out ;)

Go to http://www.disney.honeymoonwishes.com/ and you can sign up for one! I think there's a way you can link the registry to your reservations and hotel. And we printed a separate little piece of paper to put in the wedding invites with the website on it in addition to our other registry at Bed Bath and Beyond :-)

Do keep in mind that there is currently a 7% service fee for using Disney's honeymoon registry.
This is not charged to your guest for Purchases made through your registry.

Disney subtracts the 7% of the total amount when the couple request the money accumulated so far.
You can only request the funds to be disbursed 3 times. And each time your request the 7% fee applies.
So to clarify the fee is charge to the couple not your guests.

It's worth noting that your not actually getting what your guest purchases off your site. You are getting the dollar amount of their purchase. So you can essentially use it for what you want.

Also another note they no longer send you a gift card with the funds loaded on it.
You have 2 options a check mailed to you or direct bank transfer into your account.

Hope this helps.

Hmmm is that new? We weren't charged a fee for ours 5 years ago. That really sucks. :/

Could be new
That information is accurate as of yesterday. As I spoke with them on the phone about getting an account.

The website tells you there is a fee...they just don't tell you it's 7%
