My fiance and I put our deposit for Disney cruise next June. Has anyone ever been on a Disney cruise? How about motion sickness? I am very prone to motion sickness and he is very worried about it. Does anyone have any suggestions? What do you recommend/not recommend for the ship or the islands? (I think our islands are the eastern carribean)

Tigger76, WELCOME to the DIS boards!!

I think it's safe to say that we (those that post here) have ALL been on one or more Disney cruises.

Your eastern honeymoon cruise will take you to St. Maarten, St. Thomas and Disney's private island, Castaway Cay. They all have a lot to offer - too much to go into without knowing a little more specifically what your interests are.

As for motion sickness - don't let your mind get the best of you! The stabilizers are amazing on these ships and if you keep telling yourself you're in a grand hotel (which, in a way, you are!) you won't notice much movement, for the most part. If it does bother you some, I find that a tablet of 'Simply Motion' does the trick in a hurry!

I wouldn't know where to start as far as recommendations, other than to mention a couple of "don't miss" things, in my opinion.

Palo's. You GOTTA dine at Palo's!! Try brunch, dinner, or both. Very romantic and unforgettable.

The surial bath. Wonderful experience for a couple!! ;) You book it at the on board spa. You'll love it.

There are SO many more things to do - the list is practically endless. Choices depend on your taste, lifestyle and budget. Tell us more about yourselves and you'll get lots of good feedback.

My husband and I just got back from our honeymoon on the Disney cruise on May 30th and it was amazing. One HUGE word of advice if you haven't told them already, either you or your travel agent tell the cruise line agent that you will be there on your honeymoon.
They seat you with other honeymooners and it makes it really awesome. That way you don't have to worry about getting stuck with kids at your table. We had 4 other couples at our table and we were all between 21-26. We had the best time. We were at one of the larger tables so normally they aren't always that many couples but they also bring you out a cake for the two of you and its really really good. Anyways, I would love to help you. Let me know what I can do your you.

Katie,

Did they do anything else special for you on your honeymoon?
We have 3 weeks to go til our honeymoon:Pinkbounc :p

The ship does rock when its at sea...stablizers or no stablizers it rocks... I took Bonine and was fine, doesn't make you sleepy but takes that rocking edge off...bring some just in case, you may find you don't need it but its better to have it..you can also get it on the ship..

The boat DOES rock. One night on the way to dinner we were all staggering down the hall like we were drunk. :Pinkbounc :bounce:

I am also VERY prone to motion sickness. I took a bonine every day of the cruise. I never waited to see if I could handle it or until I was already sick. From experience, I know that's too late!

IMHO, with a pill available that is not dangerous why take a chance! And there is nothing as pleasurable as falling asleep to a rocking bed...and NOT getting sick!

It's an expensive vacation...ENJOY! :smooth:

I agree with the advice to TAKE the motion sickness pills. Our honeymoon was our first cruise ever - had a great time on the Magic. HOWEVER, as I sat down to dinner the first night, I realized I should have thought about motion sickness before hand. I was in bed asleep for two days - my poor husband!

The pills they gave me on the ship made me sleep, sleep, sleep.

For our next cruise in October (to celebrate our 2nd anniversary), I have already purchased the accupressure wrist bands and Bonine.

I'm learning from the posts, that everyone may experience something different, but as for me....

I struggle ALOT with motion sickness, including playground swings, boats/canoes, and car rides over 10 minutes long. I brought dramamine just in case, but found I didn't need it. I did, however, have to "concentrate" my way through the send off, and the first evening - I couldn't watch the shoreline for an extended period of time as we were departing, and when I walked from the front of the ship to the back, I had to keep my eyes on something stable and immobile, and try not to concentrate on the fact that we were moving, but once I got through the first night (mind over matter), I was fine (actually I think I just got used to it). When I got home (and on solid ground) I was sick for 2 days - I was moving, and nothing else was. That was the only time I had a problem with the motion.:p

ENJOY!!!

Mickeynut,
They give you a cake and some honeymoon pins that they tell you to wear to dinner everynight. There was a nice card in our room to when we got there that was thanking us for celebrating with them. You can have the honeymoon escape package that guarentees you a spot at Palo's and a couple other things but its not worth the extra money. They are so wonderful on that ship we were just thrilled with the service we didn't care about anything else. We did the couples half-body massage and it was awesome. They do your feet, back of your legs, back, and neck, it was very wonderful. I highley recomend it. it was $59 per person for that. You definately need to splurge and do something at the spa its well worth it. But huge word of advice, the second you board the ship book your reservations at Palo's and then go straight to the Spa, they give tours of the facility that you can take and they explain everything they have to offer and then when you finish up you can book an appointment. Its all very so easy to do. And never be afraid to ask!
Let meknow if I can be of any more assistance.
Katie
