What are you going to do for your honeymoon after your disney wedding? I thought we would just stay a few days at disney....but
I am having some problems...his mom keeps making comments about us helping her with DF's nephew b/c their parents are too lazy and self-centered to take them to the park so she expects us to go with them on our honeymoon- I thought about trying to book concierge, btu I guess in my mind i thought we would also get a "group rate" but that does not appear to be the case and it is over 500 per night- I just thought if she could not get on our floor we would be somewhat protected from them....but I just do not think I can afford 500 or more per night for 5 nights...what do we do? She is pushy and does not take no for an answer --- the other thing is that I will not really get to spend time at disney at the parks before the wedding.... HELP!

Raul and I are spending five days at AKL after the wedding. A month later, we are going to Paris. We went with the intimate wedding b/c we wanted to splurge on our honeymoon. I am sorry that you are having troubles with your honeymoon plans. Why don't you check for an AP rate? We got a great rate for a Savannah view room at AKL. For Memorial Day weekend, the rates at deluxes are about $100 off. I hope this helps. =)

Thanks I had not checked the AP rate- when do they come out? I am looking at Nov and unfortunately the beach club is already pretty booked. I am doing a custom wedding and am having 2 other events on property- and then a home reception, so I am concerned about spending all of that money - that is why I just thought we would stay on at Disney, but now I am questioning that decision, eventhough that is where I want to be.

Well, AP rates usually come out about 3-4 months before. We reserved our room for the end of May at the end of February. You can also try AAA. If you go to Mousesavers.com, they have a lot of info on savings and codes. You could reserve now, and wait for AP rates to come out. On the other hand, can't you just request that your room be far from hers? It is a bit harsh, but it is your honeymoon. I don't think it will be too romantic to share that special time with others. What does your DF think about the situation? Raul and I had talked about this a while ago. I told him that I wanted for each of us to spend time with family for the 3 days before the wedding. Once the wedding passes, it is bye-bye to family and hello to romantic honeymoon. I love my family and we live 2000 miles apart, but our honeymoon is sacred. Sorry about the long response! =)

DF is not happy at all, but she is very pushy, nice but pushy and she wants everything her way. I will look into AP rates....desperate measures for desperate times.

I wonder how the room block works are they close together?
This is just making me sad---

Don't be sad. I am sure that you will work everything out. Your DF may just need to clarify with her that this is your honeymoon. It only happens once, and you would like some privacy. I know that is harder said than done. Since I am an intimate, I don't know much about the room blocks. I am sure that you could call the reservations people and request a different floor. Although the work in the most magical place on earth, CMs definitley know about less than magical family situations. =)

For our honeymoon we stayed at Disney for 3 nights and then went on a cruise. The day after the wedding we did a brunch since most of our guests (all 8 of them!) had to go home and then we spent the day at MK with friends who did not attend the wedding and the evening at PI with lots more friends. It was nice to see all of them, but yeah, it was supposed to be our honeymoon and we ended up cutting out early. We left MK at 3:30 and PI at midnight just to be alone. Spending one day with family and friends is o.k. but don't let anyone take away all of your honeymoon time! You have to be firm and put your foot down. A honeymoon is very important and you'll want to just be alone together.

Also look into a AAA rate, I got one for our upcoming girl's weekend and saved a bunch of money.

Best Wishes!

What if I am not a AAA member - can I still get that rate? I looked on the AP and they only had offers for value resorts is that usually how it works?

For AAA, you need to call and give them your AAA number before you find out the rates. I tried to call for my bridesmaid to give her an idea of the resort price, but since I am not AAA, they were unable to provide the information. For AP rates, there are specials for values, moderates, and deluxes. It may be that there is no availability for moderates and deluxes on the days you are looking at. I know that there was still availability at AKL, WL, and BC for our vacation (May31-June4) when I checked two days ago. You could just run those dates through the system. What sucks is that you get a total price with tax already included, so you have to divide by the number of nights and take tax into account.

I have AAA. If you give me your dates, and resort choice, I will call tomorrow and check the rate for you....

I don't mean to pry, but this sounds like a problem between your MIL and the nephew's parents. Even though you want the nephews to enjoy themselves and enjoy the Disney magic, this is your wedding and you need to enjoy yourself, your new DH, and the other guests/family. Besides, you'll be so busy with wedding stuff, you probably won't have time to chase around the little ones, nor should you have to! Someone should explain to the nephews parents (tactfully) that they are responsible for their own children and you are responsible for getting married! You have enough to worry about! Oh, this is a bit sneaky, but you could always switch hotels for the last "honeymoon days." Just explain that you wanted a new hotel to celebrate your new married status. Upgrading to a nicer hotel (the GF, Poly, AKL) would make sense. This way you get to experince two great hotels and avoid the others. ;)

Yes--- the hotel swap has been playing in the back of my mind- his brother and wife will be sitting by the pool and relaxing while grandma takes the kids and then she wants us to help....it is disgusting and ridicluous! But his mom brings it on herself too - they are both to blame-- thanks for the great advice, all of you!

I'm in the VERY beginning stages of my planning, but I'm excited that I finally have info to share instead of just asking for some from other!
I spoke to FTW just yesterday and happened to ask about concierge pricing. I asked about GF, but I'm thinking the same might apply at all resorts. I was told that ONLY for the Bride and Groom, you do get the discount on concierge. You should ask anyway...

Nov 9-16- Thanks Beach Club Concierge

Sorry, I haven't been around lately.... working on the other house... I finally got all the kitchen cabinets in!!!

I will check for you tomorrow....

It's an annual pass rate. There are special discounts on hotel rates for those guests who have annual passes! It varies, but the discount certainly helps out!

were from the UK, and I told my brother in law to buy an annual pass to get a good discount. He did and saved over a thousand dollars for a room at the beach club. It was worth buying it for sure.

As for the above, could you not just tell a little 'white lie' and say you were given an upgrade....to the GF because it was your wedding ????.

Belive me you will be so busy with your wedding plans you will only have time for yourself and hubby. Take it easy on yourself, or you will be so stressed out.

Allison, I just called Disney Travel and checked for the dates you are looking for. They do not have the Beach Club available in Concierge, however they do have some villas available. If you want the price of those, just let me know and I will check on those for you.

They do have the Yacht Club Concierge and the Boardwalk Concierge available at those times (Nov 9-16) and the prices are the same. $441 a night, with the grand total being $3442.

Sorry it took so long. If you want some additional resorts checked, let me know. I will be happy to check on them for you.

Hope this helps!!! :wave2:

Thanks - that was sweet of you to check-- I will see whay DF thinks and we will go from there, even the 441 sounds so much better than 504-- Geez. Thanks again!!!!
