Third day (1/8/2003) of honeymoon trip home to VWL
Who:
Myself and my DW
The plan:
MK
Hoop-De-Do for dinner
Actual:
I woke up around 7am and got up and watched the news, copied photos to the laptop and wrote up the first two trip reports. DW woke up around 9am and we got ready and finally made it out the door around 10:15 and walked down to the boat dock and caught a boat from WL to FW and then on to CR. We walked up to the monorail and took the resort monorail to the MK. Last year when we were coming to MK we got off the bus from OKW and decided to walk over to CR and had breakfast at Chef Mickeys and then onto EPCOT never making it to MK. This year WE MADE IT!
We entered and went to guest services and got a captioning device. We strolled down Main Street USA and got our picture taken by one of the photographers. We headed over to Adventureland and as it was now close to noon we stopped at El Pirata Y el Perico for lunch. I had the two tacos, DW had the taco salad, the tacos were pretty filling, but I still helped DW with her taco salad which was a good size. We walked across to Pirates of the Caribbean and walked right on. Of course, DW bought more souvenirs in the gift shop the ride entered directly into. We strolled around past Splash Mountain and on to Liberty Square and we had 15 minutes until the next Hall of Presidents showing so we browsed through Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe and then went over to the Hall of Presidents and watched the show. Seeing the new presidents since the last time we had seen the show as kids. I think either Carter or Reagan was the new President in the show the last time I saw it. After this we went through the Haunted Mansion, which had a short wait, maybe three or four groups long, but it seemed to keep moving fairly well. We went on to Fantasyland, and pretty much walked onto Its a Small World, after that we stopped and had a pretzel and DW got a picture with Mary Poppins. We headed to Poohs Thoughtful Shop and as DW browsed and bought gifts, I went and got Fast Passes for The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. We head over to Tomorrowland and caught Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum just coming out for greetings so we quick got pictures with them and walked onto Tomorrowland Transit Authority and as we went through Space Mountain I noticed there was a short line for it. After we got off TTA we went over to Space Mountain and the line had gotten a little longer than it was but still was only 5 minutes or so. DW said that the ride made her too dizzy. It was now time for our Pooh Fast Passes so we went back over to Pooh and rode it passing a fairly long line for it. Gotta love fast passes
After that we headed over to Toontown and caught the Walt Disney Railroad, we rode it to Main Street and we still had time so we circled the park on the train back around to Main Street again and then returned the captioning device, turning in the survey as it is still being tested, and DW would love to see it kept and even expanded. It is much easier and less obtrusive than the Reflective Captioning. Those are always a pain to get setup to see them properly, and you need to sit in certain areas usually to use them. It would be much easier just for the handheld to show them, it works so well. We were almost out of MK when I remembered the souvenir pictures, so we went and picked those up. After we did, we were looking around the photo stuff there and found the Monorail graphic where you can be put in the front window of the monorail. We ended up getting our picture taken with this graphic as the monorail, and the front car (see my link in my signature), as special to us. Finally we got out of the park and took the boat back to VWL and took our stuff up to the room and then we walked over to FW for our dinner at HDD. The Nature Walk from WL to FW is very nice, and didnt take too long. We got there around 6:00 so we had over and hour. We browsed though the shop and looked around the arcade and restaurants. We then checked in and got our picture taken before the dinner. We found a seat on a bench and waited till most of the line had gone in; there was no rush since the tables are reserved. We ended up at table 13, which is right up front next to the stage and in the center. During one of the first numbers they swung my chair to the side so they could make it through between the two tables to the stage. Of course since we were one of a few couple honeymooning, we were talked to and had to stand up and dance. We ended up on different sides during the singing contest with one side of the room versus the other side. The food was good and we enjoyed the show a lot. The chicken and ribs were tasty, and the peppers and onions in the corn were an interesting touch, the baked beans were also tasty, very brown sugary (the way I like them). After the show we caught the bus back to WL and came back to the room and went to bed.
