Hello, I'm getting married at home on May 1 and having a Disneymoon from May 6-11. I BEGGED to for a Disney Wedding, but unfortunately, was told no, so I'm settling for a Disneymoon instead!

I am most likely going to book our trip in the next few days, I'm pretty sure we are going to stay at CBR, although I'd love to stay in a deluxe, it's just too much right now. Unless I can figure out the Disney Honeymoon registry, which is where I need help...

I'd like to register on the honeymoon registry, but honestly, I don't think I get it. :confused3 I know you register for parts of your honeymoon to be paid for, resorts, tickets, dining, in increments and people pay for them, but that's where I get confused...if you book a WDW vacation package, it has to be paid for 45 days before your trip, so if people are paying for things on your registry, wouldn't it most likely be after the 45 days that they start buying the increments? So what good does that do if you already paid for it yourself, then people start buying things? I'm just not really sure I understand it...I know they put everything on a gift card and then you use that, but I just don't understand the timing of it, unless they just assume you will tell everyone that's what you're doing and they figure people will pay for it early!

If anyone has used this honeymoon registry before, please let me know how it works, because I'm confused...:lmao:

what people purchase for you isn't necessary what you have to buy. When you register you will get a gift card thru Disney and the money that people buy the stuff with will be added to that card. So if someone maybe paid for part of your resort you don't have to use it on that if you don't want to. If you wanted to use it to buy for your resort you would do so once there.
Hopefully this was helpful if i am wrong someone please inform me cause i am also using the honeymoon registry for my CBR honeymoon in June.

Well I was hoping to use it to pay for some of the resort and maybe some dining or the park tix. I just don't understand how you put it towards your resort if you already paid it off at the 45 day mark! Does Disney refund your money or something? It's so confusing...I'll probably have to end up calling!

It won't work as well if you have a pkg with dining and tickets because as you said everything has to be paid in advance. If you were to book room only and then pay for meals out of pocket then you could use the gift card for the meals and the tickets.

Hope this helps,

We used the registry for our disneymoon and it worked ok. The biggest glitch was that sometimes it would crash and people couldn't get into it to buy us gifts. We did have to pay for our package in advance, but we were able to use money on our registry card to pay for all of our room charges and then what was left they applied to our package and refunded our credit card.

You do need to pay for packages in advance, but whenever you get funds gifted to your registry you can call Disney and have them refund back the money you originally put down and use the registry funds instead. We did this a bunch of times leading up to our trip.

We had money left on our card at the end of our stay, and they even refunded that back to my credit card for me when we left! Hooray for gifted money!! :thumbsup2

Let me know if you have any other questions... we used the registry for everything!!!!

Thanks everyone, you've been really helpful! It's good to know that if I book a package they will refund money to me, that just doesn't seem like something Disney would do...if anything, I figured the would just tell me to save the gift card for the next time I come to Disney!

It also makes sense to just book a room and register for park tix and dining...originally I was going to do the package, stay at CBR and get the $500 gift card with the promo they have going now, and then register for people to pay for some of my resort and dining, although that's what I was going to use the $500 gift card for...now I'm wondering if it would be better NOT to book a package, just book the room and register for park tix and dining? I was considering staying at AKL if I do this, since we could use the 40% off discount for the room...what do you guys think is the better option, booking a package or just a room?

I'm not going to register for a lot, maybe $1000 worth of things, so we can save a little money on this trip (especially since my fiance wasn't really thrilled about going on a Disneymoon to begin with since we are going in November again!) so I really have to think about the best way to go about this. Any advice? :)

We are taking a disneymoon as well! Our situation is a little different though. We are getting married on the 4th of July but there is no way we are going to go to Disney that week, we're taking a little trip that week. We have been together for 11 years already and have children, just never got married. So we are actually going to Disney in September. So I will be able to book a pkge and have some of it payed for before the 45 day mark.
But, if I were you, it sounds like it would make sense to go without a pkge so you could get tickets and dining payed for with the registry card. And you'd get 40% off the room ,so that sounds like you would make out pretty good! Good Luck!

Ugh...I just don't know what to do here!!! I was thinking just booking a room would be the best way to go, but then I realized you can't buy vacation insurance unless you buy a package, which I would really like to buy! :confused3 I think I'm just gonna call Disney tomorrow and ask them the best way to go about this...I don't know if I should do the 40% off or the gift card promo they have going...it's so confusing! This was a lot easier before I discovered there was such a thing as the honeymoon registry! :scared1:

I would just figured out which one is the best deal/cheapest price for you. The registry is just like money, so you can use it to pay regardless of the route you take. You might as well choose the route that requires you to use the least amount of your registry funds!

We stayed at the AKL for a week during our honeymoon, but we ended up booking through the Disney 3/4 deal rather than our wedding rate because the deal worked out to be cheaper for us.

Good luck!!

Well either way I'll only be registering for about $1000 worth of dining/tix or whatever I end up registering for so that doesn't matter, it will get used either way...is it a huge pain to keep calling Disney and asking them to refund your cc when people buy off your registry? I'd really like to do a package because I want the vacation insurance, but if it's going to be a huge hassle to get them to refund money, I'd rather not...

And I'm pretty sure we're staying at the Beach Club now, not AKL...tomorrow it will be somewhere else!

Oh, I have another question-when I book, I just do it the normal way, by calling the Disney reservation # and going through there right, there isn't a special number you have to call to book a honeymoon is there?

I didn't find it to be too bad when I called them for the numerous refunds. Unfortunately, it really depends on who you talk to. Some CMs know what they're doing, and some don't. But I find that that applies to everything Disney!

I booked through my TA, so I'm not sure if there is a separate number for honeymoons. I just found this page, which may help (it has a phone number):

http://disneyweddings.disney.go.com/honeymoons

I forgot to add that the Honeymoon Registry Gift Card that all the funds are loaded onto, never expires! If you don't use it right away or don't use all of it on your Disneymoon, you can use it at a later time.

Thanks, that's good to know, I was wondering about that actually! Although I have a feeling we will be using all of our funds...:lmao:

Wazzo...I'm gonna pm you and ask you a few questions, if you don't mind...:)

Hi Nermel 9,

We are in the same position but we think we have it figured out. We talked with some friends who used the honeymoon registry Traveler's Joy last year and they said it worked really well.

It looks like you break out certain anticipated Disney experiences for your guests to gift you. They said the site was easy to use and they received enough gifts to go back this summer for their 1st anniversary!:cool1:

If you go to their site, click on Real Members at the top. You'll then see a link for Real Member Registries on the left that you can use as examples. I'll send you our registry page after we've created it.

Congratulations!

Thanks for posting this, I had questions about the honeymoon registry too (thinking about using it).

To the OP-- You should definitely do the math with both the $500 GC deal and the 40% off and see which one saves you the most money -- or which one gives a better bang for the buck. I wouldn't worry about letting travel insurance be the deciding factor. You can purchase that separately from reputable insurance companies, probably for a lot less $$$ than Disney and that way you can customize the coverage you want as well.

We loved using the registry and giftcard! The funny thing is, we put more money on it than anyone else did! We used it as kind of a savings account, and me and DH put money on it every payday...by the time we went on our Disneymoon, the whole trip was paid for!

Incidently, we had about $200 left over, and used our card again when we went to the Food & Wine Festival! :goodvibes
