Anyone have any stories of Disney going the extra mile if they know you are on your honeymoon? I heard some here and the there so I figured that I would start a thread to here them all. I have heard some with upgrades and one couple having the Pirates ride all to themselves.

We really did not receive any perks on our honeymoon (we were also married at WDW Wedding Pavilion). However, we went back for our first anniversary and were upgraded at the GF from a standard lagoon view room to a honeymoon room in the turrets of the main building - concierge level. We NEVER expected it, so it was that much more thrilling when the CM told us!!

We had such a memorable honeymoon :) Lots of little things happened to us but the biggest and best thing ever is that we were chosen to be the Grand Marshals in the MGM parade!! What an experience. We wore our ears almost all of the time so it was obvious we were on our honeymoon. We also were given a wooden frame, VIP passes for Fantasmic, and got to hang out in the VIP lounge at MGM wth the CM that chose us. We got champagne glasses from CRT; we got a signed pic of Mickey and Minnie in our room at the GF; we got candy in our room at the Poly; a few of those signed special occasion certificates and lots of congratulations and well wishes...it really was magical...

When you booked your honeymoon did you cann disneyhoneymoons or did you just book it the online?

We got free champagne glasses and a "Magical Moment" certificate during our breakfast in Cinderella's Castle.

We booked through AAA and we did not buy the bride and groom ears. In spite of that we could not believe how many CM's guessed we were on our honeymoon! Guess we had that glow. LOL

We got lots of nice little perqs too. We were given ride boats to ourselves, lots of congratulations from CM's and guests, free desserts at restaurants and the best, Grand Marshalls of the Share a Dream parade. We got to ride in one of Walts personal cars and it was so much fun. We wore our ears every day.

we were married in orlando (not WDW) but spent our honeymoon at WDW. we stayed at the ASMu...at check-in, they wanted to put us in one of the preferred buildings, but i wanted to be in the broadway section instead. so she gave us a room with a great view in that area...

we wore hats and matching t-shirts each day and got little things here and there. rides to ourselves...free desserts...VIP seating for various things...the characters are the different character meals we went to or even just characters we saw throughout the park showered us with attention...

we had so much fun on our honeymoon, and were grateful for the little extras we got, but it wouldn't have changed our honeymoon had we not gotten them. does that make sense? lol...our honeymoon was fantastic because WE (dh and i) made it that way! yes, the extra pixie dust we got made it all the sweeter, but it would have been perfect without it too!

i would make sure to tell reservationists that you're honeymooning...or when making PS, tell them you're on your honeymoon...and then just relax. if you get something, you get something...if you don't...well, don't let it ruin your honeymoon!

best wishes!!

oh wow you all sound like you had an AMAZING time on your honeymoon, it's especially nice when someone does something special to recognize that, I only hope to have the luck you all did! I'm going to make sure we get those mouse ears the first night we're there! :)

Be sure to get the mouse ears.
and make sure you both wear them Remember you will never see any of those people again.
We did our honeymoon in June 2003 and we were treated to lots of little extras.
Glasses at cindy's castle, ride cars all to ourselves, desserts at some of the restaurants and just lots of smiles and congrats

Hi all, thought I'd post this here since your all so smart :cool1:

We're going for 10 days in May to Contemporary (5) and BC (5) and we're very excited.

But... I was wondering about another possible trip later this year: Does anyone have any ideas on how to celebrate a special anniversary at Disney? Our 10 year anniversary is this October and we had always talked about going back to Hawaii (where we were married and honeymooned) for the 10th year, but now that we have a 7 year old and a 5 year old, we realize this may have been a bit of a fantasy. So, I was trying to think of creative ways to plan a special Anniversary event(s) that wouldn't be the same old Disney, would allow our kids to have fun, but also be special and romantic for wife and me...

Any ideas? Thanks!

We Hneymooned in Disney last OCt. We didn't do the Ears or T-shirts. But we did get a little magic sent our way. We came back to our room one day to find a congratulations balloon and autographed picture/with a little note from Alladdin and Jasmine.

i don't know if it was the hotel (Boardwalk) or the fact that we went to a chacter breakfast that morning and had a great conversation with Jasmine. It doesn't really matter it made us smile.

We noted that it was our wedding/honeymoon on all of our reservations and I wore the Minnie headband (DH's head was too big for the top hat - if that happens be prepared to be made fun of - DH was a bit tired of it at the end of the week;) ).

We got a signed picture/congrats note from the Pooh characters with their picture in front of the Castle in our room at POR. Many congrats and well-wishes from CMs, guests, and the characters. Good tables at restaurants, although that could have been good luck! At CRT we got 1 champagne glass (we were a bit confused that there weren't 2, but hey, we weren't going to complain;) ) and Mickey confetti on the table. We got our own boat on Maelstrom and at DQ we were allowed to have our own "ship" on Pirates and were told to stay on twice in a row.

Our favorite was at Tony's. At the end of our meal our waitress brought out a plate with a single strand of spaghetti - we were told to reinact Lady and the Tramp's kiss. Priceless :wizard:

With that said, we have gone twice since, sans ears, and we still had just as wonderful a time! Have a magical honeymoon :)

How did the whole grand marshall of the parade come about? Did they tell you at check in or when you went to the park. That sounds very cool. Overall I'm not expecting anything but knowing disney they've always have gone the extra step when we have been down there.

I would book the poly and do an excursion to discovery cove. Check there website for ways to surprise her. Thats how I proposed and she never saw it coming. They have packages were a dolphin will swim over to her with a toy that says whatever you want it to say and you can throw in flowers and choclate too. Dolphins + Poly = Hawaii

Good luck

Where can I order the Disney ears? I was married in feb 2005 and we are honeymooning in DW - POP in May 2005. I would love to get the ears. THanks to everyone for the tips. I can't wait to go!! :bride:

My DH got the hats. You can buy them in DTD I believe, DH called Disney and they gave him a place to order the ears.

We had the wishes, so we had dessert as part of our meal- CM wanted to treat us, but realized when using wishes- we were already paying for it.

The hat wouldn't stay on my head, the 4th day I bobbypinned it (left in the room gratis by mousekeeping)- she saw me without my hat and asked why only DH had his on- when I told her it wouldn't stay on she said she would get me bobbypins.
I went on ToT and it KILLED. I hated the hat. I like wearing a baseball hat to keep sun off my face.

Lots of people/CMs ask you when you were married, how long are you honeymooning, we got a SUPERB table at California Grille- watching WISHES. (not wearing the hats, just had it mentioned on the PS)
I would say wear them for the spirit of having fun, if stuff happens- great- just dont expect it. I didn't like the hat, my DH begged me to wear it- I did- nothing happend- lets just say I was not a happy camper. :) LOL!!!
