*Sorry if this is on the wrong board, I didn't know if it belonged on the Weddings board or Resorts, so I'll just post it here and see what happens.*

My fiance and I will be getting married in May and decided (after lots and lots of convincing) that we want to homeymoon at Disneyworld! We've both been to Disneyland, but never to Disneyworld. When looking at hotels online, we both agreed on the Grand Floridian . . . until we saw the price. :scared1: We were kind of disappointed, it seemed like a really romantic, classic hotel. Does anyone know of a cheaper alternative to the GF where two adults can have a romantic disney vacation?? Thanks in advance!! :thumbsup2

Congratulations on your upcoming marriage. My Dh and I also got married in May and honeymooned in DisneyWorld (our first trip as well). We stayed at the POFQ and really enjoyed the quaintness and small size. I fell in love with the GF during our trip and my DH surprised me on our last night of our honeymoon by checking us in to the GF. (Sadly, I got sick that last night so couldn't really enjoy it:guilty:) So, what I'm trying to say is, I would suggest looking at doing a split stay, so you can at least get a taste of the GF.

I also think the POR is also a very romantic, lush resort, and you could take one of the carriage rides together. How sweet would that be?

We stayed at the boardwalk villas and it was VERY romantic - plus you''re right on the boardwalk and walking there at night is soo romantic.... especially over the bridge with the boardwalk sign overhead. Plus, you are right at the entrance to epcot world showcase, another romantic location.

If you are looking at a moderate
Most like GF- I would say Port Orleanes

Either FQ or RS

Very romantic

If you are looking more tropical

I say Coronodo springs

We have stayed at all of them and recomend the above mentioned

We recently had our wedding and honeymoon at Disney and we stayed at GF for the first couple nights, but then moved to Boardwalk for the rest of our stay. GF is nice, but we much prefer the Epcot resorts. Another suggestion would be Wilderness Lodge. We love the theme and decor and the location is great.

We stayed at POR for our honeymoon and loved it. The boat to DTD is romantic and so are the lush grounds. The Epcot resorts would be great too if you can swing the cost. Nice to be within walking distance of the Boardwalk and Epcot and all the dining options. Have fun deciding!

Do the Grand Floridian, It is a special occasion and you will have the time of your life with memories that will last a life time. It is a Wonderful resort.
Remember You get what you pay for.

We are going for ours too! For our first night we are staying at Beach Club, and the rest of the 'moon we will be at All Star Vacation Homes. I cannot wait!! :goodvibes

I love the Poly. & think it is very romantic. It is also a little less money than GF. I like what someone else said, split honeymoon into 2 stays. You could start out at another (less expensive) WDW resort & then switch to GF for how many nights you can afford. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding & have a great honeymoon!

Thanks for the advice everyone! I had never considered a split stay, but it seems thats the way to go! I think we're going to go for staying the first four or five nights in a moderate (Possibly POFQ or POR, seems like those got lots of good feedback) then staying in the GF for the last three or four nights! :yay: The plan will most likely change several times before it's time to book, but we'll work it out! Thanks again! ;)

Kae-That's something else to consider! The pics look very nice!

One more question- Does anyone know if you can see fireworks from POR or POFQ? Looking at the map I'm sure you could see them from GF. Silly question, I know. Just wondering!

I'm glad you are doing a split stay...GF is a beautiful place to stay. I have another suggestion...why not stay at the Swan for the other half. Swan is half the price of GF and close price as a moderate but its a deluxe hotel and the location is amazing. I am torn for our next trip to be either GF or Swan (I love the GF for the location and for all it has to offer but my husband likes the price of Swan). People say its not a Disney hotel but you get alot for staying there...location is amazing and since its your honeymoon (walking around Epcot at night is beautiful)...look at the website of Swan/Dolphin (http://www.swandolphin.com/home.html) and of course the beds are amazing...its just heavenly. Hope this helps.
