I am just learning the boards and am a new member!
However, here is our wonderful report on the Disney Dream Cruise to the Bahamas in May 2013. It was our honeymoon cruise.
First things first--if you have NEVER sailed with a veranda--GET ONE! :good vibes
We had an oversized balcony at the back of the boat and nothing beats waking up to Castaway Cay with the most amazing view
Here it is!:
Pre-Cruise: We came into Florida on Thursday and visited WDW. We do not stay on site (despite the bus system), but stay in the Caribe Hotel just outside the grounds from Epcot. It's the same price as the value hotels in the resort yet its a suite with an amazing pool/waterfall. Highly recommended. We also rent a car and either pay for parking or at one point had a Premiere pass that covers it. You only need to park at the location you are visiting that is open the latest, which is usually Magic Kingdom.
Cruise: We had a rental car with Hertz and they will take you to the dock if need be. We arrived early but if you check in early, save a set of swim trunks and you can get into the pools right away. Food is also being served in the buffet restaurant, so you can eat lunch while you're waiting for your luggage and room to be ready.
I think the only difficulty was not being ready for the different themed nights. We knew there was a pirate themed night and a fancy formal night but there was no discussion of it in detail until we were talking to our wait staff.
Otherwise, everything was timed great. No matter what time you have dinner, you have a chance to see the shows, participate in the clubs and activities and spend time in the ports and excursions.
