Honeymoon disappointment

For those of you that expect to be treated specially as honeymooners, don't get your hopes up like we did.

We read in the unofficial disney touring guide that honeymooners get extra attention..."buy the mouse ears and you won't believe what you get"...
The book is wrong, don't expect anything whatsoever.

In fact, I think that in a nice hotel, if they know you are on your honeymoon, they should at least acknowlege it in some small way...
Even a congratulations note would be nice...ANY small gesture.

I made a point of letting everyone know we were on our honeymoon as the book suggested.

Our first night at Animal kingdom lodge was very nice, but nothing acknowledging the honeymoon.

Next, when booking, I asked for a quiet room in ALL STAR SPORTS and was given a room in the noisiest section where kids kept us up till 2-3am.
It was a nightmare.

As a result, we were exhausted the next day and could not enjoy the day.
Only after that experience did I speak with an asst. mgr and was given a quiet room for the last 2 nights.

Unfortunately the book gave us false expectations. Please don't expect anything special like we did because you will only be disappointed.

thanks

I am sorry to hear that your honeymoon wasn't as magical as you had hoped it to be. But, there are so many "Disneymooners" is a resort at any given time. It really is a coin toss to get "special attention".

Also, when you book your honeymoon at a "family friendly" resort, such as the All Stars, it is hard to find a really quiet section. Especially in June...

I hope that not having that attention didn't ruin your vacation. I would just be happy to spend special time at WDW with the love of my life... I don't need anything extra to make it magical... JMO :wizard:

Im sorry that there was not extra special treatment or acknowledgment given to you two. yeah, it's definitely hit or miss on whether you get special treatment...its all up to the CM's working that particular day! I hope it didn't ruin your honeymoon.

I'm sorry you were disappointed - I hope you were able to have fun just being together on your honeymoon though! And it's good that you got your room moved, but yeah unfortunately at a family resort like All Stars it is going to be crowded and loud.

We didn't ask for anything special, didn't wear the ears or the buttons. DH really does not like to be in the "spotlight" so to speak. We did get balloons, chocolates, and a "congratulations" card signed by Mickey and Minnie delivered to our room. And the next day at the good-bye brunch our server asked if it was a special ocassion and my MIL said we had just gotten married so they made a big fuss and put us in a dancing and kissing contest (we won - LOL!!). On our cruise we kept it to ourselves and only our dining room wait staff knew and they just gave us extra desserts :teeth:

Congratulations on your marriage!

I'm sorry to hear that your Disneymoon wasn't as magical as you were hoping for. Ours was wonderful -- we got a lot of special treatment the entire time we were there. But we would've had a magical time no matter what! The whole point was to be together, at Disney, to celebrate. The rest was just icing on the cake. :teeth:

Oh my goodness! I'm so sorry you were so dissapointed! We went to Disney World for our honeymoon last year and stayed at Pop Century for the week. We also had the Mickey and Minnie Bride and Groom ears. We had a wonderful time, and got tons of special attention. I didn't really expect special attention just from wearing the ears though. I've been a Disney fan for a long time, and I've always wanted to wear the Bride ears on my Disneymoon, even before I started hearing about special attention given to wearers.

Here are a few of the things that we got to enjoy on our Disneymoon:

-We were given a 'Just Married' balloon when we checked in at POP
-Free preferred 60s section upgrade at POP
-Mousekeeping (I guess it was Mousekeeping) left us a bouquet of Princess Suckers
-I can't even count the number of 'active' FASTPASSES that CMs just handed to us during the week
-Front of the Line passes for Test Track and Mission: Space
-Free ice cream (we actually had to start refusing the free ice cream at one point, because we were on the dining plan and needed to use our snack credits!)
-Priority seating tickets for Fantasmic! (Thanks to the manager at Mama Melrose's!-It was a really good area!), and Tarzan Rocks, Indiana Jones (we also got to be 'extras' in the show!). CMs would just pull us down to the front and center seats!
-We also got the center window seat at Cinderella's Royal Table (wonderful view of Fantasyland!), and the table was sprinkled with Mickey confetti. At Cinderella's Royal Table, our waiter also gave us a set of Cinderella's Royal Table champagne glasses
-Window seats at dinner at Chef Mickey's - with a wonderful view of the castle! We were also given 'It's My Special Day' placemats. And the waitress sang 'Happy Wedding' to us. It was histerical!
-We were given several 'Congratulations!' cards at different places we ate at during the week - Boma, Cinderella's, Chef Mickey's
-We got to ride up front on the monorail several times
-When we picked up our free Magical Wishes button at Downtown Disney (that another CM at Goofy's Candy Co. told us about), the CM there also let us listen to a special message from Mickey and Minnie!
-Lucky the Dinosaur stopped to talk to us! It was so cool! We're not sure if it was the ears, or just random.
-At several of the indoor theater attractions, the CM would come up to us and ask our names, then they would announce our marriage over the loud speakers! I know this happened at It's Tough to be a Bug, Muppets, and a couple of others.
-We were given our own boat on Maelstrom, El Rio del Tiempo, Small World, and Pirates of the Caribbean-this was really neat!
-Many of the characters in the parades would wave at us and give us the thumbs up or point to their ring fingers. The Fairy Godmother did this right when she was talking about true love. Plus many other characters would make a big deal out of our ears! It was so cute!
-TONS of guests and CMs told us 'Congratulations', and many guests would offer us their seats on the bus, or on the boats or whatnot.
There's probably more, but that's all I could think of off the top of my head!

It was a wonderful week and we were so happy to finally be married and on our honeymoon at Disney World! I really don't even think we would have noticed if we were not given all the special treatment. That isn't really what our honeymoon was all about. It was about us being together. Of course, thanks to all the special treatment, DH wants to know if we can 'reuse' our ears next time!

I'm sorry it posted twice! It said the server was busy and yada, yada, yada...

Amanda - looks like you had a great time! I hope we have as good of a time as you did. We're not big on all of the attention on us, we're just so excited to go to the parks and have fun with our friends!

I am sorry to hear you weren’t given even the littlest bit of attention. :(

Maybe it was because you were staying at the All Stars. They are probably not use to Honeymooners of romantic getaways. It is a family resort.

But at the Animal Kingdom Lodge I defiantly would have expected something.

My husband use to work at the Carribean Beach Resort front desk and he was allowed to send flowers up to newlyweds and anniversary couples - which he did often.
