Me and my fiance are having trouble deciding where to go for our honeymoon. We plan on getting married in April, and the two top choices for us are Hawaii and Walt Disney World. I really would love to go to WDW for a few days, however; if all goes according to plan we can take our future kids to WDW several years from now. My parents would also love to take a trip with any grandkids they have to WDW to boot.

My fiance would really like to go to Hawaii and see the volcanoes, etc. Both are fantastic honeymoon destinations, and I would enjoy myself regardless of which location we choose.

Which destination would you choose?

Poll forthcoming.

(Like this poll won't be biased *snicker* :rotfl: )

Uhhhhhh......you do realize you are on a Dinsey Board right? lol :rotfl2: .....just kidding with you! :thumbsup2

Honestly, I think Disney would be wonderful and there are so many ways you can make your trip romantic and relaxing. But, you need to go with your gut instinct and if it says Hawaii, then Hawaii it is......you have many years of memories to build upon, Disney can come later. :wizard:

I have a neat suggestion though.....go to WDW and stay at Polynesian, then you get your Hawaii and your WDW fix all in one trip. Have dinner at the luau, and bask in the sun (florida our hawaii...it is still hot!) :cool1:

Happy Honeymooning!!! :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

That's a tough one! I voted Hawaii just because I think it will be romantic. Even though Disney can be incredibly romantic you have pleanty of time to visit and since you are not having a Disney wedding I don't see the need really. I do think that staying at the Polynesian is the perfect compromise though if you go with Disney.

I would pick Hawaii as well simply because your future kids will go to WDW anyways.

i would go with Hawii. One because it is sooo romantic. Yes WDW is to but I think Hawii tops it. Two Hawii is much more expensive, you may have the money now to go or even have parents that are footing the bill. You may not be able to really afford Hawii later on down the road. And WDW usually becomes a traditional vacationing place for alot of couples and families. I know we went once and were hooked on going every year.

I've been to both places and I always swore that I would go to Hawaii on my honeymoon simply b/c it is SO ROMANTIC and so wonderful!! However, I somehow got bit by the "Disneymoon" bug and that's where we chose instead.

But for a while, we had the same dilema that you are facing.....Hawaii or DW??

If you choose DW, I agree with everyone else, you should stay at the Polynesian! I remember riding by the resort on the Monrail and thinking, "Wow! That sure does remind me of Hawaii!".

In the end, it's all about you and your fiance and what you guys want! You'll enjoy whatever destination you choose!!!

Why not go to Hawaii for your honeymoon, and celebrate your anniversary at WDW. I do think that if your planning kids soon after marriage, then you might not get a chance to do the hawaii thing. However, a plane ride or car ride to WDW, and your future kids will love it!!! Do whats in your heart...no matter where you go, you will have a incredible start to your married life!

We considered the same (as I'm sure many newlyweds do.) Here was our rationalization for WDW.

We are getting married in WDW, so it would save us money not to have to fly somewhere additional.

We like to be super active and do a LOT on vacations. We're not real 'lay on the beach and do nothing' kind of people. Translation: I think we both have adult ADD and get bored easily :rotfl:

There are active things to do in Hawaii, however, most are water sports and my fiance is not a swimmer.

I HATE flying (and we can drive to WDW.) (This was the biggie!)

The other side:
My sister just honeymooned in Hawaii in April and had the time of her life. She enjoys the laid back vacation. She is also very smart and enjoys nature trails, historical tours, and water sports. It was a great honeymoon for her.

Not sure if any of these rationalizations helped you, but I thought it may give you things to think about. What kind of people are you and what do you look for most in a vacation? Hope it helped :)

i would do Hawaii. i love Disney and all, but Hawaii is a one time thing, you know?

how about getting married at Disney and honeymooning in Hawaii? lol. get the best of both worlds!

we chose Disney b/c of a few reasons

1.) DF has NEVER been to disney(so sad) and I have been to hawaii

2.) while I had an aweosme time in hawaii and so much fun, I got kinda tired of lyring around or driving around or walking around....just got bored maybe? we are not big "nature" people, but are very active and after the first day we would be saying "what do you want to do..." "I dont know, what do you want to do...?" that fun game!

3.) we can drive to disney (the flight to hawaii from Louisiana was AWFUL!)

4.) more variety (i guess this goes with the getting bored thing)

dont get me wrong...hawaii is beautiful and fun, but for us personally, disney is a better choice, so just evalute yours and DF's likes/dislikes and go with your gut! :thumbsup2

Where are you getting married? You could get married at WDW and honeymoon in Hawaii. Me and my DF went to Hawaii this past summer and had the most amazing time...it is such a romantic time!! We are getting married in Disneyland but will be honeymooning somewhere romantic and tropical. We are looking at cruises to the Mexican Rivera. I personally prefer something more secluded/romantic for a honeymoon.

Ha! Ha! My vote for Hawaii made it EVEN :cool1:.

I LOVE the Big Island. I love the ocean and the beaches and the volcanoes. We swam with turtles when we were there in March. They came so close we could TOUCH them if we wanted. I would do a few days on the Big Island and a few days on Kauai just chilling out. That combination can't be beat!

You have plenty of WDW ahead of you. Unless you are like us, you will go to more "family oriented" locations after you have kids. Enjoy romantic Hawaii while you can.

It's up to you. You can do "Turtle Talk With Crush" at Epcot ...

... or you can meet the real thing:

How funny! You listed almost the EXACT same reasons we did! I think you and your man need to hang out with me and mine sometime and we can have adult ADD boredom syndrome together :rotfl:

My vote for Disney put WDW in the lead.
I'm just not a fan of the tropics and beaches an all of that. I think it would get boring really quick. I grew up near the lake, and I do not the ocean. It is so heavy, slimy, and salty. WDW has so much to do. Just don't go during hurricane season.

:rotfl2: I'm responding to this b/c I just realized that we both live in Louisiana! Hi neighbor!! :)

In my opinion it all depends on what you like to do- do you want to go on a honeymoon and lay around all day and have tons of downtime? I suggest Hawaii....
Do you want to have a very fun-filled vacation that is very fast paced? Choose Disney.

its up to you- I'd go Disney
