Has anyone honeymooned at pop before? If so please give me the experience and if it is worth it. I know its our honeymoon but we are more party type, outgoing people and we'll spend very little time in the room. POP seems fun and energectic. I know with Mods and DEluxes that there are more things to do. But we're spend 90% out of the resort and 10% in sleeping in the resort. This is our first trip so everyday we'll be at park. This is a themepark honeymoon. All Disney parks, seaworld and UO. What should I do? :confused3

Hello Fellow Tar Heel!

Okay... POP.
  • Looks: For me, the values, including POP, are tacky. The pictures aren't beautiful, they're fun but juvenile.
  • Resort Layout: It's pretty spread out and since you're going to be in the parks a lot, you're not going to want to spend all of your time walking from your room all the way over to the POP bus stop and the food court. But if you're going to have a rental car (or you're driving), that may not be a big deal for you.
  • Resort Food: No sit-down restaurant. :(
  • Room Layout: The rooms at POP are smaller than the other values. You'll have to request a fridge if you want it. (Small fee, I think.) You can get 2 doubles or 1 king.
  • Location: Better than the other values, but not as good as some of the other resorts.

If you'd rather spend your money on tickets, food, special events, etc - POP might be the place for you.

I spent my honeymoon at a value resort (All Star Music) and we both loved it. We are also people who did not spend tons of time in the room and we would rather spend our money on other things. I thought the rooms were plenty big for the two of us. Some people think that the larger-than-life icons at the value resorts are tacky, but I think they are adorable and would miss seeing them if I stayed somewhere else! Maybe we will upgrade to a more expensive resort for an anniversary or something, but then again we might not, because I really like the values! Every one has their own opinion when it comes to the resorts but I don't think that I would care where I stayed as long as I was at Disney :hippie:

Especially starting out and getting done with a wedding, save your money! Just do what is right for you even if it seems like you "should" stay somewhere else. You can use the money you save for something you'll use everyday like new furniture, car payment or mortgage.

We did it for ours in August. We really liked POP. We didn't spend a lot of time there other than sleeping and stuff, but we did really enjoy their pools. We stayed in the 80s building #7 in a king room. The rooms are not that small, really. We were perfectly comfortable in there. As you said, it's not like we were spending a lot of time in there, so I don't know what else we would have needed space-wise? The icons were cute IMO, not tacky. We especially liked the 80s and 90s buildings since they were more "our generation." I have some pictures of our room online somewhere if you'd like to see. We were very happy with our experience there. OH and our room was in the supposed farthest location from the buses, but it was a short walk. We drove most days, but if wasn't far the day we rode.

We're from NC too, but not heels. We both graduated from state! I wouldn't normally help a heel ;) but since you're a disney fan I'll make an exception. j/k

Another NC gal here. My DF and I stayed at POP for our last trip and loved it! We were in a king room at the back of th 80s building. We loved the food court and the theme. I know your honeymoon is very important but there is no sense spending money you will need later, especially if you are hardly ever going to be in the room.

Hi
I'm a florida resident so I visit Disney a lot.
I must say that the Pop Century is my least favorite of the value resorts.
The pop century is giantic, way too crowded with all the tours from South America.
The parkings spaces are half the size of those at the other all star resorts.
I honestly thought it was uncomfortable.
I think they tried to squish way too much into the land area that they had for the resort. (No wonder it took twice as long to build than Disney expected)
I have stayed at all the Value Resorts and my FAVORITE ALL STAR RESORT is the ALL STAR MOVIES.
The food court is bigger with more choices. The decor is much cuter and much more disney.
It is the newest resort just before the Pop Century.
If you go to ALLEARSNET.com. (Don't type www.)
It has every picture of everything you could want at every resort.
Great website. You can even pick out where you want your room to be exactly.
Thanks and hope that helps.

I stayed at Pop in June. It was great. It's not really all that spread out. It is a bit bright but fun. I have stayed at ASMovies too and I don't think that the rooms are that different. But I will give you a hint, if you are willing to put up with an accessible room, I stayed in an accessible room that was a king sized bed and to our surprise we had a free refridgerator in the entertainment center. I assume that it would be for medicines but I am not sure. But hey this is all just my opinion.

We aren't having our wedding at Disney but we are going on our honeymoon there a couple months later so we cansave up to stay at a deluxe and I am so excited. I would stay at Pop for a honeymoon and not have any problems. Food court was great and so was the bus service, plus we got cute towel animals

We stayed at Pop for the very last night of our honeymoon because it had just opened a week before, and we wanted to try it out.

Compared to the All Star resorts, we MUCH preferred Pop Century. It is my understanding that the rooms at all the value resorts are the same size. We loved the theme of Pop Century, and enjoyed looking at all the shadow boxes in the lobby with memorabilia from each decade. Plus, we love the little fun details around the resort like Twister boards in the sidewalks and a giant Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head.

As far as the room goes, it was small, but we were fine since there were only 2 of us. You can always request a king bed, but it’s not guaranteed. We like the furniture in the rooms much better at Pop than the All Stars. Somehow it just seemed nicer to us. Plus, the TV is larger. We also liked the thoughtful little details like the fact that the drapes are on two separate overlapping tracks so the sun won’t come through that crack in between the curtains.

We enjoyed the food court choices and thought the CM’s were nice.

We’ll actually be returning to Pop Century in three weeks for a long-weekend trip. :)

I stayed there for 3 nights in the 80's building and loved it. I spent 7 nights in the 70's building (w/ king bed) on the first floor and didn't love it so much. If you are staying for 7 nights I would bump up to a Moderate. I am never in the room too, but after an entire week of 6am wake-ups (I am an excited lil kid, :rotfl: ) and 2am bed times, you get tired and need a break, which will be your resort/room. Then again, I think it would have been much better if we were on one of the top floor, not on the bottom near the pool. It may be more convenient (closer walk to pool, lobby, busses, etc) but its not worth the extra noise and comotion with everyone walking past your room. I think the resort is clean and decorated with tons of fun.
If this is your first trip, I would stay at the POP. The Petals Bar by the Hippy Dippy pool is great and the bar tenders are awesome. :cheer2:

We stayed at POP for our DFTW planning session trip. We like it well enough. We had pretty low expecations, and they were all met or were exceeded. Its not the fanciest hotel, but it gets the job done. If you are on a trip where you don't intend on spending much time in your room, than I think POP will be fine for you. Personally, I think its the least tacky of the values, and the most fun. The one downside of POP for DH and I is that the rooms don't have balconies. We love to spend some time in our room relaxing and a balcony is a must for us on a longer vacation.

We were at Pop for the first 4 nights of our wedding trip, we switched to Saratoga for our actual wedding night and beyond, and again for the last 4 nights to WL.

We loved Pop, and would totally stay there again. The themeing is neat. The shadowboxes in the lobby are very cool. We were in a room not facing a pool so I don't know if that makes a difference, but it was nice and quiet, and for the 2 of us the room was plenty large enough even with 3 suitcases and a wedding dress. We did luck out and get the King sized bed (make sure you mention that it's your honeymoon to help you get that, still not a guarentee, but disney likes to up the magic if it's your honeymoon). In all honesty we liked Pop better then Saratoga, and that had a bigger room and a balcony, some times it's the little things that make the differences, and Pop did that.

All of the value resorts have a square room footage of 260 sq. feet. I have stayed at the movies and sports and found them to be very comfortable and enjoyable for two people. We def. liked the movies section better. We always ask for a tucked away room on a corner to avoid foot traffic...and have always been pleased with that.

We will be staying at the POP Century resort for our first night of our Honeymoon because we want to try out the newest resort before we head for our cruise the next day. I am expecting it to be much like the other value resorts. You can't beat the price though.

If you are on a budget, don't worry about the resort you stay at on property. You get wonderful Disney service at all of them. Just know what you will get and you won't be disappointed. For example, room service is basically limited to Pizza at the value resorts.

You can visit the other resorts for meals...etc. That is what we did last time and fell in love with the Animal Kingdom Lodge restaurants.
