Honeymoon April 2013

Hi all,

It's been some time since I've last been on this board. I went to WDW last Dec and now, I'm planning a trip to DLP as I'll be getting married next year!

I'm so excited to be planning my honeymoon to London/Paris in April 2013. Yes, I know that's early but I like to get a head start in planning before the wedding stuff takes over.

The plan is for us to fly from Manchester to Paris. I have two options:
Option 1: Fly on Apr 7 (Sun) and reach at night. Go to the parks on Apr 8 (Mon) and 9 (Tues). This will mean staying for 2 nights (Sun and Mon).
Option 2: Fly on Apr 8 (Mon) and reach at ard 3pm. Check in and go to the parks on Mon and Tues, but Mon will only be a half day. This will mean staying for 1 night only (Mon).

My questions are,
(1) Which option is better? Is it worth the extra night at the hotel (in which the ticket will go to waste since we won't have time to visit the parks?)
(2) What are the crowd conditions like? I don't think Parisian children will be on holiday during this time so that's good right?

It depends on the price difference, and what class of hotel you want to spend your honeymoon in If you do decide the fly out on the Sunday, you could concider staying off site for one or both nights, eg. at the Dream Castle. This could be a better deal as you won't have to pay for the package tickets that you won't use, and will still have a nice room for all that........ napping you will be doing! If you do decide to go for the 1night/two day deal, it may be worth paying more to fly out on the early flight, to buy youselves many more hours in the park. Also, may be worth checking flights out of liverpool or Leeds if either of them are nearish to you.

Couldn't really comment as I've never been at Easter, but I'm guessing that as the British schools are on holiday then it could well be very busy.

If you don't mind me asking, is it finances or time that is contraining you to only staying a couple of days?

Easyjet from Liverpool only fly evenings (except on a Saturday) so you wouldn't gain by going from there, but could be considerably cheaper

I agree with Ruthie25, it may be worth looking at an off-site hotel and purchasing a 2 day ticket for the Parks. The off-site hotels can be nicer in my opinion than some off the Disney Hotels. I personally like the Dream Castle, it is 1 of 4 hotels that are a free shuttle bus ride away (about 5-10 mins).

Thanks ladies! I'm currently thinking of staying at Cheyenne as it's the cheapest... With your suggestions, I guess I have 2 plans:

Plan A: Stay at a non-Disney hotel for 1 night and then move on to Cheyenne. I'll have to find out if this is cheaper than 2 nights at Cheyenne.

Plan B: Find a flight that arrives earlier during the day on Sunday so that we can make use of the ticket.

My constraint is both money and time. We'll be travelling to Paris and Nice after Disneyland so I'm trying to not spend so much in Disney. Don't have to stay in a nice hotel as I'm going to be in the parks the whole day! Super exciting!

Btw, is it possible to walk from Cheyenne to the parks?

Oddly enough, when checking the websites today for the same dates, the prices have gone up! By about 140 Euros! I'm shocked! I checked 2 days ago and the prices were lower...

What's going on here?

Disney prices seem to change on a daily basis.. depending on special offers, and in response to deman I am guessing.

I'm seeing two nights at the Santa Fe or Cheyenne for £428 for two people, for the sunday and monday evening. For the monday night alone it is £278.

Any particular reason to stay on site?

Trivago.co.uk is a good site for looking for off site hotels. Some of these are fully cancellable rates, so if you want to take a gamble you could reserve a room, and hope that a cheaper Disney hotel rate comes up.

Looking for options for you is more fun than packing boxes!

That's what we did for both this summer's and last year's trips. When Disney came up with a price we were happy with we cancelled the offsite and booked with Disney, if the prices never come down to what you're happy to pay you know you've got a hotel room at a good price and can then buy day tickets (or even annual passes).

Are you moving Ruth? Haha, u need to pack your boxes! But that's definitely an idea. I'll check for fully cancellable rates for offsite hotels. I want to stay in the onsite hotels for the Disney experience. Somehow makes it more magical. Also, I want to be able to walk to the parks seeing I read that the buses can be a hassle.

I'll get back to you guys. Back to checking the Disney website. Haha, this seems to be my routine every morning it seems. And I'm more than happy to do it.
