Have the point values per night gone up since some of you older member have joined?
Meaning a night in AVK in 2001 during jan for a studio was only 12 pts now in 2008 its 40
Does that happen?

What is "AVK"? Animal Kingdom Villas just opened last year so you must be talking about something else. Points needed for the DVC resorts do not change. They issue those charts every year or two because the dates for Easter and Thanksgiving change and thus dates move for those higher cost periods. If you trade out to other Disney resorts, cruise, non-Disney resorts, the points needed can and do change annually, usually an increase, sometimes a decrease, sometimes they stay the same, and thus new charts are issued annually.

The total number of points allocated to a resort cannot change. However, those points can be allocated differently every year. Let's say that to stay in a studio on a Monday in January is 12 points and they want to move it to 14, they could do that, but they would have to reduce by 2 points somewhere else.

A good example is spring break. Since spring break can be different year to year (2008 is in March and 2009 in April), DVC will change the allocation accordingly. So, March 21 - 28 this year will cost me significantly more points than next year due to when Easter falls and how they allocate points. DVC will just raise the points in April 2009 and reduce them in March.

I don't know what you're looking at, but points range from 8 to 27, depending on value or concerige, and Mon-Thu or Fri-Sat nights.

Points at DVC resorts can change, but it is extremely rare. There was a realignment of points at OKW in 1996. Overall it was pretty minor, some seasons and room sizes went up, others went down. The total points needed at a resort for a year can not change.
