Hi All-

I am regular WDW guest and I am stumped on one particular question. I am taking my dd to WDW for a few days in August. I will be renting a car and staying on property. I know passes are given at resorts for 3 hour guest parking. I plan to visit several different resorts for different meals. With me so far? Ok. I plan to have dinner at the GF one evening. Usually I drive to the resorts. However, I want to go to MK after dinner. If I valet am I allowed to leave the car for longer than the specified three hour period? I play it by the book and want to be sure I'm not doing something I'm not supposed to.

Thanks!

If you are staying on property you are giving a parking pass for the days you are there. I THINK those are good for all the resorts, etc. I don't remember getting a limited parking pass when we parked at the Contemporary or WL for diner when we were there last summer. In otherwords, you can park at the other resorts for however long you want with that parking pass.

Your parking pass is NOT good for all the resorts, only the one you are staying at. At all others you will get a three hour parking pass like everyone else--sometimes during slow season or later in the evening they don't bother.

All the monorail resorts have signage as you enter that very specifically state that they are unable to provide all day parking for theme park guests. That said, at times they will allow all day valet parking--which you will have to pay for. During busy seasons they will restrict the valet parking to those staying at the resort or with a verified dining reservation that starts within the next hour or so--in other words don't show up at 9:00am when you've got a 8:30pm ADR and expect to be accomodated.

Bottom line to the OP, it' might work, it might not. Have a back up plan.

To avoid ANY problems, you could park in the regular MK lot, then take the Resorts monorail to the Grand Floridian - just be sure to go up the correct ramp. Depending how busy things are, this may be your only choice anyway. After dinner, you can jump back on the monorail and ride one stop to the Magic Kingdom, or possilby stroll out to the dock and take the boat. On leaving the park, well, you know what to do :)

Why would there be a time limit in Valet??

I stayed at Boardwalk Villas once for one night, then transferred to All-Stars for four more days. I left my car at BWV valet the entire time. When it was time to go home, I took the bus to BWV from PI, got my car from the valet then drove my car over to All-Stars and picked up my luggage from storage there.

The valet didn't blink an eye that it had been there that long even after I had checked out.

You are luckly you weren't charged for the days after you checked out--it was a mistake on their part.

At some resorts valet gets full. As this is starting to happen they stop accepting guests who are not registered at that resort.

They sometimes will continue to accpt guests with ADR's for limited times. Remember, if you pay for valet at one resort you can valet at another that day for free. So if you are a YC guest who has paid for valet parking, and want to park valet at the Polynesian to have lunch, they will often accept you but put a time limit on it.

I didn't say it was free, I paid for each and every day that it stayed there, but it was well worth it to me to not cut into my time on my transfer day or any other day for that matter. (Day time was park time, night time was drinks at Pleasure Island, so no driving then), just made sure I didn't drink my last night at PI, as I was driving to Ocala.

My mistake, I misunderstood what you were saying.

That said, the BW valet doesn't usually fill like the CR, PR, and GF valet lots fill.

mrsltg,

This is a legitimate question which I've heard answered both ways. I guess my feeling is since there are signs posted saying "We cannot provide parking for guests visiting the Magic Kingdom", that sign should be taken to apply to both self-parking and valet parking. But since I virtually never valet park, I have no idea how the attendants deal with (for example) a 3-hour pass.

golfgal,

Resorts have the right to control entry and parking. The only guests who have a "right" to park in the lot are guests staying at that resort.

But I think having a WDW parking tag makes things go much smoother at the guard shack when visiting. I have never heard of a guest at a WDW resort with a WDW parking tag being denied entry to visit another resort, but in principle it could happen. On the other hand it is very common to be given a parking pass of limited duration, typically 3 hours, for visiting and/or dining. This is especially true at the monorail resorts, where there is often a problem with guests parking at the resorts and then going to MK. This also happens at Epcot resorts.

This is not 100% correct. You pass is good at the level of resort you are staying at or below but not above. If you are staying at a deluxe, they will most likely let you park at the GF for longer then 2 hours, but that is only if they are not out or nearly out of parking places.

To the OP what you propose is fine and completely within the rules.

Where you are staying has NOTHING to do with parking at other resorts. If you are staying at the GF you still don't have the right to park all day at the All Stars.

Thanks to all for your answers. I think I will err on the side of caution and either take the resort bus to get to dinners or park at the TTC lot. I was really not looking to get over or deprive another guest of a parking spot at their resort. I just wasn't sure how the valet worked in this situation.

Thanks again!

Actually my experience has been what I stated. When I was staying at the GF any resort that I went to the guard would just wave me in and wish me a nice day. No time limit and no questions. When I was staying at a value and went to a deluxe I was asked what I was planning on doing. I have never been asked where I was staying or how long when I valet parked.

I think it depends on what time of year you go. During busy times, we're asked and given the 3 hours pass (although the guard at the Contemporary said if we thought we would be longer, just turn it upside down  ).

During dead times we are always waved through no matter where we stay.

"just turn it upside down " They actually said that ???

That's what they said. We were discussing this with another person while we waited to be called into Chef Mickey's. She was told to "let it drop to the floor" ..that way they'll see you have one, but won't tow you, over at the Poly. Nice huh? Must be that Disney mentality to make sure everyone has pixie dust. We actually joke about this every visit now..as we get out the car, someone will say..hey, is it turned upside down, and laugh!

The deluxe resorts that are near the theme parks have signs where you enter the parking lot that state that they cannot provide parking for the theme parks. If you wish to use the resort facilities, you should be able to park there. If you wish to go to the theme parks, you should park in the theme park lot.
