Just my 2 cents

We have done two 3 days and one 7. We just booked for 6-06.

I've seen many people mention the higher cost for 2006. We always go in June because of school so we are traveling at a higher rate anyways. However, our next cruise is only $400 more than is was this past June for the same cat.

I booked this past June 1 year early so it is not like we got bad rates.

Anyway, I seriously looked into other lines especially Princess. But there were things I loved on DCL that didn't sound like I could be guaranteed on the others. Like the adult pool. I've had heard from friends and family that although they have them, they don't always enforce the rules. DCL does.

Now the pool is not the only reason, I love the service and I don't want to be disappointed so why change.

I agree with CPM. It is very unfair to judge a cruise line by some of their cheaper and shorter cruises. It is true that Carnival has three day party boats that would never hold up to a DCL comparison. But there are some Carnival ships that are more upscale and "nice" people sail on those ships too. That said, there were some very rude people around the Mickey pool on my recent DCL cruise so it happens everywhere.

I have sailed on quite a few cruises in my life and have enjoyed most of them. Each cruise line has something special to offer. I do know that on Celebrity they have an adults only pool area that is strictly enforced. The pool offers a special whirlpool area and has a healthy eating area nearby where you can get grilled salmon, salads, etc. at lunch time.

I think that if you are happy and content with DCL then sail again and again. Loyalty and tradition are so important these days. But if you do feel the urge to try something different I encourage you to explore your options. DCL has so many wonderful things to offer...but so does Celebrity, RCCL, etc.

I have cruised many, many lines.. only way I vacation is cruising..
been on...
Carnival Fantasy
RCCL Sov. of The Seas
RCCL Explorer of the Seas
Celebrity Horizon
Holland America msAmsterdam

since the above, I've been on the Wonder 4 times, and the Magic 1, with my second Magic cruise coming up in about a month.

The only one i can say I probably enjoyed more then my disney cruises was the Holland America cruise, but it had nothing to do with the cruise line, and everything to do with the ports--it was to Alaska, and I haven't seen anything to beat Alaska's beauty yet. Was truely breath-taking.

Sov. of the Seas and the Fantasy were spring break college trips--dirt cheap sailings. The ships were older, there was more partying, and overall, wasn't that impressed looking back with a cruise critic eye. Had tons of fun, cause it was spring break with my friends, but wouldn't go back on them.

What people say is true, the other lines have gorgeous ships. Explorer of the Seas was amazing, huge, a lot activities for active people (the rock climbing, roller blading, which I don't do, so they aren't a big appeal to me). Even though the Horizon is one of Celebrity's older ships, she's been maintained and refurbished well, and the service and food on Celebrity were great...

but... bottom line, I like DCL, because its Disney. I love Disney. I want to vacation with Mickey Mouse. I'm 26, and want my picture with Cinderella, and Mickey in a Tux. I want to hear Disney songs, and see Disney movies, and swim in a Goofy pool, and I get goose bumps seeing little girls dressed as princesses, seeing their faces light up when they see Mickey. I like the details, the theming, the story-lines, the service, the uniqueness that sets it appart from other lines, and makes it "Disney."

If someone handed me a ticket and said, you can go to these ports on Mariner of the Seas or these ports on the Magic.. but the Magic will cost you $500 more, I'll still pay the $500 more so I can cruise with Mickey... cause, well I love the mouse.

Will I cruise another line in the future, probably, because I want to see Europe, and South America, and Hawaii, and of course Alaska again.. and unfortunately the mouse doesn't go there. But as soon as he does, I'll be on the mouses boat!
