DO you think that the cabins will be big enough for 4 adults and 2 kids. I realize that they sleep 6 but will we be running into each other? The thought of enjoying a quiet morning on the deck drinking a cup o' coffee before heading to the parks sure sounds like heaven. BUt if we will be "on top of each other" is the privacy worth it or should we think about other options? The fact that there is only one bathroom isn't a problem either as there is a vanity type area in the bedroom. Just want your honest thoughts...thanks.

The cabins ARE very nice, and there is a vanity type mirror in the bedroom...another alternative that will save you big bucks is looking into renting an RV... www.CampAtTheFort.com rents a very nice and large 5th wheel camper that sleeps up to 9 people, they deliver it, set it up for you, show you how everything works, and move it from your campsite when your vacation is over.....its as convenient and as large as the cabins, but helps to add that special something when staying at the Fort. The owner of www.CampAtTheFort.com is a regular here on the boards and you can send her a PM to ask about the details for your group... her DIS name is tinah159

Cabins or RV...there is not a better resort than Fort Wilderness, you'll find this out within the first minutes of your stay ther...have a GREAT TIME!!

I think there is no better place than the fort, and that front porch is amazing! The cabins may feel tight though. I'm guessing you would have 2 adults in the double bed and 2 kids in the bunk bed in the bedroom....and 2 adults on the Murphy bed. I would consider doing this with people I felt extremely comfortable with! Like my sister and BIL for example. You will most likey feel on top of each other. However, having that outdoor space to spread out could be the saving grace!

I agree with PolynesianPixie. I just love the cabins but it may be a bit crowded. We stayed there twice now, the first time was in 2000 & it was 2 kids & 2 adults & it was fine. Add 2 more adults & it may be a little cramped.

You also have use of a comfort station near loop 2500 for an extra bathroom.

We had to make this decision in Sept and as much as we love the Fort with 4 adults we opted for 2 rooms at a value resort.

It’s certainly not ideal but it’s not a horror show either. It’s really a question of your ‘vacation style’. Do you ‘ram ‘til your tongue drags’ or do you just hang out & take it slow? The deck is a wonderful feature as it adds an extra room in the mornings & evenings to take the edge off. The last time we were there we crammed in 2 adults, 3 teens & a child. The biggest issues we had were scheduling the bathroom in the morning (4 women!!!) & dealing with the clothes, suitcases, etc. I think in your case I’d really look into CampAtTheFort.com. Personally speaking either way I’d make sure I was at the Fort. ;)

Are you family? We spend a lot of time with family at each other houses. Given that, it wouldn't be too crowded at all. We all have our routines and everyone is oK with them. But I don't think I would stay at the cabins with adults that I didn't really know. Because with one bathroom, things get ah ah ah personal. That is the best way to describe it without grossing anyone out.

I really think it depends on how much you mind sharing space and how much money you're willing to spend. The cabins are expensive so sharing space would be a lot more economical. There is the option of Tina's RV to save even more money but as far as space goes the same issues are still going to apply.

Personally, I'd rather share a space in the cabins or an RV at the fort than stay anywhere else on property. That is just my preference though.:)

Yes we are a family. It would be me,DH ,DD(24),DGS(4),DS,(12) and IF DD(21) is able (she is in the Air Force) then she would be the 6th. I wish we hadn't sold the pop-up cause we could take that AND a tent...but I think we would like someting more "comfy" like the RV that was mentioned or the cabin.

Go for it!!! Your Air Force DD will be used to sharing anyhow!! Thank her for her service.

I went with my DSD 18, Niece 19 and my hubby and me. No problems with 4 adults. Are you going to use the MIL Discounts? You will qualify with your daughter. There is a 40% off and a discount on tickets.

Yes, I will definately look into the MIL discount but I am already planning on using my CM discount...

If you like the idea of being able to pitch a tent then DEFINITELY look into renting the RV! You can get a full hookup site and pitch a tent if you want more sleeping room. The bunkhouse is perfect for the younger kids as well as a one (or both) of the older ones. The sofa has a queen bed and there is a master bedroom. But the option to pitch a tent is there where it isn't with the cabins.

Honestly though, since you are all immediate family, I think 1 cabin would work great for you as well.:)

I don't think you'll have any problem with a cabin rental. Especially with the castmember or military discount, I say go for it!:thumbsup2 You'll have a great time.

I didnt mention tents, did I.....damn Alzheimer's!!!!

Family? Then I'd say go for it! I love getting all cozied up with my family on vacation! :goodvibes

The dual doors are great for deck access and that second vanity area made a HUGE difference for us, the girls used it exclusively to get ready and as a result made the one bathroom situation less of an issue. Oddly enough we only had an issue with the bathroom at night when the tween and teen would go in there and seemingly get lost and I wanted to get the two little ones to bed and all they needed to do was brush teeth!

For us the only part that really felt "tight" was the bed situation and that's just based on the age and sex makeup of our group. The 1 bath wasn't ideal but was livable. Other than that we were not tripping over each other at all. With some planning and arranging, the suitcases really weren't in the way either. Just all our darn shoes...

Still, for us, without going all the way up to a 2 br villa, it was the best fit. I wanted that full kitchen and was very happy to have it! I'd looked into connecting rooms but...without a guarantee of getting them and knowing git was only a mini fridge, it made me nervous. That deck is priceless!
