The old 95 Dodge Caravan is getting along in years (130K miles).
Would really like to have a new Honda Oddysey. I've heard that
Honda has been able to sell them for sticker price or even above sticker price due to demand. Anyone know if this is still the case?
Anybody been able to "deal" on the price of a new Honda Van?

I don't know about a van...but I do know about Supply and Demand. In August of 2000 my mother was looking at a brand new Chevy Tahoe. She was paying cash and she wanted bright red. At this time no-one had bright red Tahoes except one place in our immediant area. They simply couldn't get them....well we tried and tried to negotiate and the most they would come off of the sticker price was $200 dollars...period! Now when we traded the Tahoe in on the Suburban they came off close to $5,000.....so it does depend on how much they are wanted.....Today they would probably come off the Tahoe by thousands.

Bought ours in 99 - the 1st year of the full size model. So you can guess the answer to your question. NO:rolleyes: But I do love it. Don't know what we did before we had it & we only have 2 kids. The 10-12 drive to HH DVC will not be a problem on Tues, thanks to our van.

Honda did double production in the 2nd year & now they have the new Pilot, so maybe you can at least get if FOR sticker.

it's so humongously popular that i've never heard of anyone paying less than sticker. maybe you could spring for a used one, if a new one doesnt fit your budget?

You might try buying over the internet. We bought my DH's Durango when they were pretty new and paid invoice by using a dealer over the internet. We did go to the dealer to order it and to pick up only.

They would only sell it at that price if we ordered one not if we bought one off the lot.

No other dealer would even consider matching the price.

Just got one a few weeks ago....paid the sticker price for the first time in my life! No deals here....but it's a great van!!! They will deal on the used ones though.

My husband bought me my Honda Odyssey for Mother's Day, so I wasn't there for the deal. I wasn't floored when I found out he paid sticker price, but I quickly learned why. Its a good van, the best that we've owned. At first I thought it was all hype, but I really am confident in this van.

We were offered it at sticker price here, I heard it went for $500 over sticker in a nearby city. ! I decided I really did not want a van anyway and got my adorable new 2002 CRV for $500 below sticker. That is all they would go on those as they also have a waiting list.

I got one last November and paid sticker price. They may negotiate on a used one, but not much. The Oddysey really retains a lot of its value. It's an awesome van - very reliable and drives like a car. We love it. It's worth every penny. I checked out Ford Windstars and Toyota Sienna's, and I found that the Honda offered more features and quality for the money.

Bought ours in June. Paid sticker price for it. We got one with a GPS unit in it, even though we really didn't want it. Now I'm in love with that system and will not have a car without it.

Great van!

Well we do WANT one if that counts. As far as I know most folks are even going so far as to order one. Something about the leather seats. If you order your van it is cheaper because they are factory done and not done at the dealer.
Anyway you probably know that already, :D .

there is a great site packed with info on cars and the ins and outs of buying etc... called edmunds.com. check it out.

I paid sticker price for my Odyssey and got the Honda Navigation System free.

I initally did not want the Navigation system and told them I wouldn't pay for it, so they just gave it to me. Now, I, too will NEVER own another vehicle WITHOUT a navigation system. That thing has saved my butt a million times.

Here's another consideration. When I refinanced my van to a lower interest rate, it was worth $2000 more than I actually owed on it. I'm assuming that's because of the Navigation system, but how often does that happen?!
