Homewood Suites...

Which one? I've stayed at Homewood Suites in Kissimmee and highly recommend it....

I've stayed at several Homewood Suites throughout the country and have nothing but good things to say about them. I'm a big fan of the suite layout and who doesn't like a free breakfast?

Stayed in the one in Kissimmee and enjoyed it. Excellent for families and the rooms were nice. LOVED the FREE "CONTINENTIAL" Breakfast that they give you in the morning. I wouldn't call it continential though. They had scrambled eggs, bacon, toast, muffins, cold cereal, juices, coffee, etc. You can save alot of money on breakfast! Also Mondays -Thursdays they had a Managers Reception that started around 5pm -7pm. Again they served FOOD FOR FREE. I only caught it the first night we checked in. They had Beef Stew along with rolls, sodas, juices and even some FREE drinks. That's another savings if you are around on those days and times. I happened to catch a great deal of $79 per night for the 1br. in the middle of July 2 years ago so keep an eye out for dome type of deal. :wave2:

:sunny: There is also a Homewood Suites in Lake Buena Vista. We stayed there in '03. Very nice hotel. Everything was extremely well kept. I agree about the free breakfast. They had a pretty good selection at this one. They also had a reception in the evenings with a good variety of snacks and drinks. You were also very close to several nice shopping areas and a wide variety of restaurants. :earsgirl:

How is everyone getting these cheap rates? the website is showing rates of $120 a night. If i could figure how to get a $65-90 rate id be thrilled. Any tips are appreciated

When are you planning to stay?

DD and I stayed at the HS on Parkway in April 04 for $59! Booked through Expedia. Booked late too, I think it was only about 6 wks out.

Room was due to be remodeled, ie carpet worn and stained, but otherwise, very pleased. I think we were in the last building scheduled for renovation. Read that somewhere......

Would stay again in a heartbeat at that rate! :cheer2:

For April 05 for the Homewood Suites on Parkway we were able to get $69/night on the Hilton.com website and this was booking it only about 2 months in advance.

Expedia I know is more than Hilton's website and I was really suprised because we usually go through Expedia.

We have never stayed at the HS on Parkway but have heard all good things about it--only negative was it's a little too close to the highway.

We have stayed at the HS on I-Drive and it was WONDERFUL, but the rates have gone up so much!

Try TripAdvisor.com--it has tons of reviews on all the HS in Orlando. Just type in Homewood Orlando in the search.

Good luck!

I wait until I get to Fla. then call the ticket brokers listed in the unofficial guide to Disney (or just the ones listed in the phone book)

Last time I got a two bedroom suite for $35. pr night. Hoping to do the same once more in April!! :flower:

We stayed for just one night at HWS Lake Buena Vista (on 192 by entrance to Celcbration) in 2002.

Unless they have done a MAJOR renovation, I can't recommend this hotel. Our room was threadbare - really in need of redo. We could not open the pull-out couch. The frame was bent. The carpet was well worn and stained. I wasn't overly impressed with the cleanliness. I was extremely glad to be leaving after one night!!!!!!

The common areas were a lot nicer than our room, so maybe if you could get a recently renovated room, it would be fine. For me, even at $35, it would not have been worth it to spend a vacation there.......

I agree! DH and I stayed here in Sept '04. We spent one night at Pop before heading here for a week. We were in the building right outside of the hot tub, and I could hear the people talking it up ALL NIGHT! AND we were on the 2nd floor! VERY thin walls! UGH, I have shivers just thinking about it! Never was able to use the hot tub because those people were in it the entire time! Not the hotels fault, but just my complaint ;)
Our room had a cute kitchen and it was very roomy inside. Honestly, the free breakfast, and free "dinner" were NOTHING to get excited about. (Except for the free coffee in the AM and free beer in the PM-if we were around and they didn't run out).
Basically we should have stayed at POP for roughly the same price. Wasn't worth us leaving the Disney environment and I don't think we will ever go back to being offsite again. :wizard:

Sorry to hear that others did not have a good experience there.

Anyhow, keep in mind that our $59/night rate was for January.... slow season for Orlando.

While we would enjoy staying onsite and may consider it in the future, for the time being while our children are young, it is preferable for us to stay in a suite.... that way the children can be tucked in early and the adults don't have to sit quietly in the dark! ...............P
