I have a reservation for Homewood Suites in a family bunk room and wanted to check and see if they had connecting rooms so we could have 2 bathrooms. I called once and they said they did not have connecting rooms. I then was looking online and it stated under all the room descriptions that they have connecting rooms. I called the hotel back last night and they said that only the family suites connect with the 2 queens studio. That did not seem right so I called back this morning and they said that yes they have connecting rooms in the configuration that I wanted (1 king and 2 queen) but they could not tell me what the cost was, they needed to transfer me to global reservations. I have never called a hotel where they could not give me a price on a room and book the reservation for me.

I go to global reservations and I spend 30 minutes on the phone with this very nice woman who told me all about the hotel (yep - I already know about all that) and then told me about the connecting rooms and gave me the price for one of them. Then she put me on hold and came back and told me that she had to call the actual hotel to find out if the king room was available and it was not. I explained to her that I was looking on the website right now and it shows that room available and I can book it. She said she could not reserve it for me because the hotel said it was not available.

This is so frustrating! I just want to book 2 rooms! I could go online and book them both, but I want to speak with someone while booking them so that I can make sure the request for connecting rooms is placed on the rooms. Should I just book the two rooms and then call the hotel and request connecting rooms? Should I call and talk to a manager? I am ready to give up and just book somewhere else!

Call the hotel during the day and ask for the Manager on Duty and ask what is the best procedure to ensure you get connecting rooms...don't rely on the front desk staff.

My fear is I will book them and then call and they will tell me those 2 room types don't connect, and the whole thing starts over.

It's really not that complicated. Just book the rooms and request that they be connected. I've done this at many hotels and the staff will know how to handle it as it's a common request. That said, connecting rooms are typically not guaranteed as it is based on availability.

Is there not an option on the site to put request in or something of that sort

The problem is that nobody seems to know which rooms actually connect so if I book on my own I am not sure I am booking the right ones. Everytime I talk to someone I get a different answer.

I was going to say what sheetz said...most hotels won't guarantee connecting rooms, and it's based on what's available when you arrive. Book the rooms online, then call to request...if they tell you those rooms don't connect, cancel the reservation you made online If you want to have children in the connecting room, then make note of that on the reservation (depending on the hotel, some will try to accomodate you more than others).

There are bigger suites at the desert inn or another one closer. Forgot name. They have 2 bath. That might be better.

There are just to many negative reports on Desert Inn. I thought about it and love the layout of the rooms because they actually allow you to book connecting rooms.
