I never had a problem with room cleanliness. My last trip there was probably my "worst" one and even that wasn't that bad! I'm just kind of picky. Housekeeping was a little spotty as far as forgetting to leave towels one day, washclothes the next, etc. However, everything was always clean. My mom was with me on all three of these trips, and she can spot a dust bunny at 50 paces.
The hotel is not new, but it definitely isn't old. (I'd guess it's about 5 or 6 years old, if not even a little less.) I've noticed over the past 2.5 years that it is getting a little more worn looking, but still nothing bad. I think most hotels go through this, especially in a high room traffic area like Orlando. The biggest problem I had with them on the last trip was with one of our beds. The bed I was using tilted to the side to the point where I felt like I was falling out of the bed. I asked them to bring me a new box spring since that's where I thought the problem was. Rather than fixing my bed - with the obvious problem - they exchanged out the mattress only on my mom's bed. I called again and explained that I needed a new box spring on my bed, and this time they only brought me the mattress. After a trip to the front desk, they finally probably me the new box spring. When they took the old one off, the wooden slat was completely broken in two! I suspect some kids had been jumping on the bed a little too enthusiastically.
You probably don't remember seeing the hotel because it isn't right on 192. You will turn onto Parkway Blvd (you'll see a sign for the Radisson Parkway hotel) and wind back through there about 1 mile or so. At the end of that road you will see the Hampton Inn almost straight ahead and the Homewood Suites to the left. You will also see both of these hotels from I-4, too. Take the 192E exit off of I-4, and at the first stoplight, turn left and this is Parkway Blvd. (If you take a right at this stoplight, you can wind your way over to Celebration.)
I found the location really convenient for getting to the parks and getting around in general. It was nice not being right on 192 with all of that hustle and bustle. The breakfast was OK - nothing to write home about, but certainly not bad since it was free. On Monday through Thursday evenings, they had a manager's reception with munchies and drinks. Their idea of munchies was my idea of dinner! Things I remember them having on different evenings include hot dogs, tacos, and baked potatoes with various toppings. They usually had a small "make your own salad," too. For drinks they had wine, beer and soft drinks. I want to say that this lasted from 5 - 7 on each of those evenings.
I had to laugh about you loving the mountains - I love the beach! I guess we always want what someone else has! I have to agree with you about taking your husband up on going to WDW rather than going to the mountains!
Hope you don't get too much wind or rain from Alex. It sounds like from Richmond to the east you folks have been getting drenched with rains lately. I doubt if you need any more!
