Hi all,

We are planning and land and sea and figured it would be cheaper to possibly fly into an airport closer to Cape Canaveral and we’re looking for a hotel for the night before embarkation and we wanted to know anyone’s thoughts on Homewood Suites by Hilton? We know it’s five minutes from port and has breakfast and from what we’ve seen of reviews it’s clean but I figured I’d ask here as well!

Thanks,
BH5

We'll be staying at Homewood Suites for our next cruise in a couple of months. Right behind it is Home 2 Suites, which we stayed at last year and was nice and clean and offered breakfast. Walked into the lobby of Homewood Suites and it looked just as nice. When we were in PC last year, those two hotels seemed to be the most popular/crowded.

Yes, we always stay there (well, all 3 times we were in Port Canaveral before the cruise. The one time we stayed in Orlando the night before, and I really regret it.) If you don't have a car, you can sign up for the shuttle to port.

I have already booked it for our upcoming October cruise, too.

Shout out to Paula at the front desk. During our July 2022 trip, my reservation was 'lost' due to a variety of circumstances, and she spent over an hour on the phone with me, AmEx, and the other travel company, trying to make it right. Afterward, she comped my son a candy bar and me a mini bottle of wine (and it wasn't Hilton's fault at all).

This was our go too, but it declined since our last trip in 2019. We stayed there last week.

Pros: Very very close to port. The drive from there to the port was less than five minutes. Has a shuttle for a fee and parking for a fee, but we always just park our rental car at the port. The breakfast is pretty good for cruise morning, considering it is included. It's a short drive to other stuff we like, like a visit to Ron John's. There are other cruisers there, so there is a fun vibe on cruise morning. Staff is great. They have the two room suites at pretty normal rates, which gives you a couch and sitting area to relax. There is a kitchen if that's your thing, but I am not cooking on this type of vacation. You can see the port (usually not the Disney ship, since it's blocked by other ships).

Cons: The room is worn. We stayed there many years ago when it was new and clean, so it is hard to see it in its current state. The room was also not clean, but we have pretty high standards. There was dirt in corners, stuff on bed sheets, grime in bathroom, etc. It wasn't so bad that we had to leave or anything, it just wasn't as clean as we would have liked.

To give you an idea, my teen daughter says we have ridiculous standards when it comes to hotel rooms and that it was perfectly clean. But Disney and nicer hotels always seem clean enough for us, so that can't be too unusual. That said, I suspect many wouldn't have even noticed what we did.

The bottom line is that it isn't a terrible stay, but we decided we will look at alternatives the next time we cruise out of there. The price is somewhat high for what is becoming a worn property. But, if location and free breakfast are important to you, and you don't mind a room that isn't spotless, I think you won't be disappointed. I would stay there again without hesitation if I didn't find a better alternative I liked.

Ih we are also very particular with cleanliness. This hotel was quotes to us by our travel agent but I’ve looked at some others as well

Hi all! We actually ended up going with the Country Inn by Raddison down the road which has the same options just slightly cheaper!

I do appreciate all your input though! I’m starting to enjoy the cruise line side of the boards a lot due to your kindness and thoughtful input!

We have had great experiences with the Homewood Suites in Port Canaveral! We've stayed 3x (most recent in Sept) and will be staying again in April. Always well kept and very clean. We have tried the Country Inn which was ok, but we like the Homewood better.

Yeah we were looking more at pricing (though we also did read reviews for both and it was about the same)
