So Im curious how all your homeschooling is doing and if your almost done for the year? I still have about a quarters left of work to do. Im very stressed. I am part of the Seaton homeschooling and not sure if theres a time limit or whatever for when it should be turned in.

I don't homeschool, but have some friends that do...they pretty much stay on schedule with the school district.

We homeschool. NC requires us to school 180 days. We should be done around mid May.

Literally, in my case. :(

10yoDD (aka AmoDolphin) goes to a 2-day-a-week tutorial for hsers. Their last day is in mid-May. If she hurries with her math she can be totally done by then. We're going to do the Stanfords (standardized tests) at the end of May.

12yoDS is totally hsed. He'll finish about the same time as her, again except for the math.

I switched both of them from Saxon to Switched on Schoolhouse for Math in February, and had them both start at the beginning, so they need to do several lessons a day to be able to finish. I suspect they'll be doing math into the summer.

And the reason I'm so sad is that they'll probably be in public school next year for the first time. I'm working 30 hours a week and hsing (and taking care of a 4yo) now, and I start full time in June. DS wants to be an engineer, and I know I don't have the math/science background to get him there. DD plays the viola, and wants to be in an orchestra. 4yoDD will probably in PS all the way through.

We do have a back-up plan in case PS is a total disaster. DD will go back to her 2-day school, and DS will do all of his subjects with Switched on Schoolhouse. (If we do this he'll probably go to community college for math and science once he's at high school level.) Grandma will be available for supervision, and I'll do any grading/helping in the evenings.

Try as we might, we can't stop our kids from learning year-round. :p So, we'll continue living and learning right through the summer: library books, field trips, educational videos, extracurricular activities, etc.

Peggy
