Homeschooling at MK?

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this question, but I was wondering how many of you homeschooling families out there use your WDW trips for homeschooling projects? I "get" the ways that Epcot, AK, and even the Studios can work well with homeschooling lessons, but I am curious as to how some of you might have incorporated your visits to MK?

I homeschool my 2 kids, and they would be heartbroken if they had to go to Disney World & worry about "school stuff". It's a vacation from work, school, etc. and that's one of the many things that makes it so enjoyable.
That's just my opinion, but if you can find some way to incorporate homeschooling in it while keeping it fun, go for it!

You could use the internet with them to help them research their trip. Yahoo maps, DW site to plan the day and it helps them to learn to research on their own. We count that time toward study skills.

How old are they? I remember taking a trip to Six Flags in high school for Physics class, and having a lot of fun with some different experiments about how the rides work, etc. I wonder if any of that info is online or available somewhere?

I don't homeschool but try to increase learning whenever I can. When DS was younger we read Tom Sawyer on the way down and related that to Tom Sawyer's Island. Swiss Family Robertson would be a good one too. Maybe study a little about old river boats. The presidents hall is full of possibilities! Learning is everywhere!! If you wanted to contine your more formal studies I saw some really good quality disney work books at Michael's craft store this week. Might make the phonics and math more fun.

Thanks for these great suggestions! I had thought about maybe doing something about fairy and folk tales, as well as something about science fiction and "tomorrowland"...so too had I planned on incorporating art by doing photography and a scrapbook. But I love the idea of Tom Sawyer and Swiss Family Robinson AND the idea of science. My daughter is a bit young for true physics, but certainly not too young to learn about machines, wheels, pulleys, etc.

I don't homeschool, but I found this on these boards and think it is great for writing for the younger kids. It is journaling pages for trips to WDW.

I agree with BoPeep... it is our vacation and we try to keep it as noneducational as possible.

Mapping might be a good thing to study and talk about while at MK.

Even though I haven't homeschooled in 4 years I still like Erich to think and learn while on vacation too! It doesn't have to be actual sit down studying,just getting his little brain to think about things ,especially all the marvels at WDW.It also gives his imagination something to work with.On our last trip he started writing his own Star Wars story.Being at MGM Star Tours and feeling like he was actually landed on Endor open his mind up even more!
