Homeschoolers....

Here's the link....The ABeka Academy

Now for my DD(13) we are doing something completly different this year. We went with an online school, and so far she and I both just love it! I've been very impressed so far.
Here is the link to that....The MorningStar Academy

Both of these options are fairly expensive, but worth it IMO. They also offer a payment plan to make things a little easier too.

Thanks for those links! We're planning to venture into the world of homeschooling soon :) When you compare the cost of those programs to private school tuition, they suddenly seem less expensive :goodvibes (not to mention the closest private middle school to us is pretty far away - meaning $200/month for gas just to drive her there  in addition to the $600/month tuition!)

Laurie :)

For math and english/grammar we use http://www.singaporemath.com/
Used their Let's Learn Science last yr, but it was too easy for DD. Went with LIFEPAC science this yr which I hate, but DD seems to enjoy. Next yr we will be switching to the MPH science from the Singapore Math website.

I've heard good things about those programs and also Sonlight: www.sonlight.com

The OP might also want to check the homeschooling boards at www.vegsource.com .

We use Abeka and love it! I have used School Of Tomorrow too. But Abeka is more our cup of tea. I love ordering from one company. It keeps me focused and it's a bit of insurance for me I accomplish all I need to complete that year. I sleep better knowing I have offered my girls a whole curr. instead of worrying of I left any wholes.
My girls have done great with Abeka...and we have even used the Abeka Academy DVD program too. We were liked that option also for that year.

I picked out each book for my daughter rather than going with any of the others. It has been wonderful up until this point in time.

I really feel like homeschooling can be as flexible and enriched as you make it. Go to your state department of education's requirements for the grade level you want to teach. Find the minimum requirements for each subject...and then teach away!

My complete curriculum cost under $200, and I'm not forced into teaching out of books with old photos, no photos, or bad explanations. I purchased everything on ebay, amazon, or from individual book sellers.

Another good resource for picking your curriculum is from the homeschooling group for your area.

Good luck!
