*** Homeschool List ***

Just visited that thread on the budget board. OUCH! How ignorant people are. It hurst to read some of the things that were posted. Now I know where bullies come from. I am so glad God has chosen the path I am on now. I don't think negatively about kids in PS, but reading posts like that really affirms my decisions.

Here's another site: www.amblesideonline.com

Friend's of ours use it, it uses the Charlotte Mason approach and is FREE! I know that their 11yo dd scored in the graduate school level (above grade 18) in the general knowledge section of the WJ-III test we took last week. Smart, smart family.

I've used http://www.tanglewoodeducation.com/
It combines CM and TWTM/classical
Their store is no longer operational, but you can get the daily lesson plans, book lists etc for free.

Not to mention the damage that some of their kids are facing in the public school. People are complaining about education not being quality and about their children being bullied or exposed to things they don't approve of, and yet they can't grasp the concept of homeschooling. :confused3

When our homeschooled children are their primary care physicians or their lawyers, well, we will see who is laughing then. But, hey, their kids will be socialized! :rotfl:

I deleted my folder of games after DD bookmarked them all under her account. I need to have her email me the list again.

Wow ~ I just read the homeschool thread on the BB too... :scared1: scary!!!

There are some ignorant people out there!

Anyway, I'm glad that we haven't had any anti-homeschoolers hijack this thread:laughing:

I'm so glad I homeschool...I'm so glad we have the choice:thumbsup2

I read that thread got some good web sites from it that I had not found yet. But I agree with you the negative posts on their make me want to home school even more.

Welcome to the thread, bear74 & DangerMouse!
thank you

Holy cow! That bullying in schools thread is just plain sad. Are there really that many mean parents out there? Seriously, no wonder there are issues with the kids.

I need to get off these boards for a while, this is truly disturbing me.

Now excuse me while I go tend to my "hermit" children.

Nice response in the bullying thread! :thumbsup2 I was apalled as well.

Ok, I finally broke down and went over to look at the budget board.
Honestly... if you guys think that's bad, you just havent spent enough time on the community board! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I have had my butt kicked over there so many times for child rearing issues!

That PS teacher (I forget his user name) is a prime example of why I am so thrilled be to HSing. Would you want your kid in his classroom???

No matter what anyone says about any aspect of what I am doing to educate my own children, I know (as you all here know) that HSing is best for our children.

That's my two cents, typo's, errors and all. ;)

...and the HS parent just smiled!

Funny thing is, that I don't even think he teaches real classes. thank the lord for small blessings, I guess.

This is my new line.
If I am standing in line at the grocery store and you find out my kids are HSers, so you start quizzing them on their multiplication facts and I glaze over... you know what I'm thinking!

I hate the community boards! I can't spend much time over there at all. I seriously don't believe half of what people brag about over there. They just say things so that they can look better by attacking others.

I think they were all public schooled! :rotfl2: :lmao:

Sorry, I know many of us were too.....I just couldn't resist!

I am/was a PS teacher so I don't want to knock all teachers, but good grief!

You know what is interesting? When I still worked and the kids went to a small private school, some teachers decided to lambaste me for wanting my kids in private school! They said that if I worked for the PS system I should support the PS system by sending my kids there! Thankfully there were several of us with our kids in private school AND the primary teachers lambasting us didn't even HAVE thier own children!!!!! Sheesh! Why do people think it is their job to tell us how to raise kids????

I agree with you - I highly doubt he is actually a teacher, at all. You know, I visited that thread and the bullying thread and now I need to go take a shower to rinse off the hatefulness of both threads :headache:

Oh No! Are you saying there are two hateful threads over there?
Well, I'm not even going to waste my time going again. Who needs it?

Hi all! I'm one of the people who posted against the obnoxious person on the Budget boards. (Hope I wasn't too obnoxious myself in my post!) I'm pretty good about ignoring the rude comments and not responding, but that person's post made me entirely too angry. I couldn't help myself but to stoop and make angry remarks back.

Anyhow, I homeschool my 2 sons, 9 and 11. I have always homeschooled them and as a veteran homeschooler once told me, "If it's not broken, don't fix it." I use a little bit of everything as far as curriculum is concerned. I prefer secular, but don't limit myself to that.

I do have a question about this thread since fairly new to posting on these boards....has this somehow branched away into another homeschooling thread/group? And if so, how can I join?

Thanks and I look forward to talking with homeschoolers who love Disney like we do!

Dawn..I just wanted to say, I'm enjoying that link a lot..Thanks
