Homemade Egg McMuffins???...

I used to premake these for dh- I'd cook the eggs, and assemble the muffin sandwiches and freeze them indivually,so he could micro one for breakfast.
then I found the same thing at Aldi,I get about 4 or 6(?) to a box, already made for around 2.99-
that's like .50-.75 per sandwich, which is cheaper than me buying all ingredients and making them myself(even buying e. muffins from the outlet bread store, etc)
and way cheaper than Mcd's every day- he only likes the english muffin/canadian bacon/cheese/egg variety-
while I don;t consider mcD's or these boxed sandwiches health food, he wants them anyway,so I'm saving time and money buying them this way

You guys are perfectionists - I just fry the egg and if it's too big I flop the edges over the muffin or toast or bagel - whatever is on hand! :lmao: If I have bacon I microwave it then melt the cheese on top in the broiler - YUM!! That was my dinner last night. :)

I make these all the time. They are so quick and easy you won't need to make them ahead of time.

Need:
an english muffin
a slice of american (or whatever) cheese
a egg
about a teaspoon of water

1.put english muffin in toaster
2. spray small microwavable bowl with cooking spray. I use a ceramic bowl about 4 inches across.
3. Crack an egg into it, add water and mix
4. Microwave for 90 seccond.
5. Put the cheese on the english muffin right when it comes out.
6. Toss egg onto the muffin/cheese.

Enjoy!

From walking into the kitchen, this take under 5 mins.

Thanks I made these for a quick dinner tonight (bisquits instead of muffins) and it worked great :cool1:

I buy the Jimmy Dean D-lights turkey sausage muffin thingys from Sam's Club. They are less expensive than an Egg McMuffin and healthier than the Sausage McMuffin with egg. They are more expensive than making your own, but I really like the convenience. It's about $11.50 for a package of 12

I just tried this, worked perfectly. I used a mug for the eggs.

there are a cheap thingy that they sell at walmart, that is made to microwave the egg in - several nurses I work with use them to make breakfast...

This is my sons favorite breakfast. He calls it the Mom Mcmuffin. I use little individual ramekins, put 1 egg and shredded cheese in it. Microwave for 1 minute. Then, we use ham instead of a breakfast meat. One english muffin in the toaster, and you're done. It takes all of 3 minutes. No need to make ahead of time.

We spray a little glass custard cup with cooking spray, crack an egg into it, cover it with a paper towel and microwave it for 60 seconds. Perfect Egg for Egg McMuffin-like sandwich and no need to make ahead.

I have done this for years. I just recently switched to 100 cal bagels. They are the perfect size. I also use Eggbeaters instead the egg & water. And I use a slice of Canadian Bacon. I've timed it and it takes 2 minutes from taking the ingredients out of the fridge to putting them back in.

Here is a typical morning breakfast routine for me. Push the button on the coffee (I get it ready the night before.) Make myself my egg, cheese, bacon bagel. Wrap it in a paper towel so the cheese gets melty & the bacon warm (like McD's does with their wrappers.) Get my coffee mug to go ready with creamer, splenda, & coffee. Jacket. Van.

I will say if you are making these for kids you can make them all the way up ahead of time but let the bagel & egg cool before assembling. Then put them together. Then wrap in a paper towel & put in a baggie in the fridge. They can nuke it for 45 secs (in my micro) and it's ready. I've never frozen them.
