Does anyone make dog biscuits?? Would anyone know if these are good enough as Milk Bone brand as far as helping to clean the dogs teeth??

Milk Bones (Dog Biscuits)
1 egg
2 1/2 cups of whole wheat flour
1 tsp each of sugar & salt
1/2 cup of cold water
1/2 cup of non-fat powdered milk
6 T of margarine

Mix ingredients and knead at least 3 minutes. Dough should form a ball and is on the stiff side.
Roll to 1/4" to 1/2". Cut with small cookie cutter (I use little bone shaped cutters that I bought at a kitchen gadget store).
Bake on lightly greased cookie sheet for 30 minutes at 350.

Variations are 3 tbls of liver powder, chicken or beef powdered bouillon, dried soup greens, or dried soup mix.
My dogkids like the chicken flavored the best and I also use about 1/4 tsp of garlic powder. (Don't use the garlic salt.)
They're good too! I always have one when they first come out of the oven. If I like it, I figure they'll like it too.
When you take them out of the oven, place them out to cool and then store in airtight container. They last around a couple of weeks.

I've never thought that Milk Bones worked well at cleaning teeth. That said, I just made some low-cal dog treats for mine and they took forever to harden. I doubt that they would be much of a money saver in the end due to the length of time that the oven needs to be on. I happened to be making a stew that cooked at the same temperature, so they were in the oven together.

My dogs love the ones that I made. More than their usual treats.
