I'm looking to improve our school's homecoming week. How does your school do homecoming? Is it a formal affair or a "smart casual" event? Parades? Pep rallies? Dances? What do you like about it and what would you change?

Thanks!

I love homecoming week:lovestruc, best week of the school year

My school has 5 theme days during the week (pajama day, mix n' match day, school color day, decade day, and jersey day). On Friday we have a HUGE pep rally in the afternoon, it consits of the announcing of all the sports teams, comeptions between the teams, and the announcement of the homecoming court. We also have a dance on Thursday night.

The only problems is we dont do that much during the actually game. The halftime parade is pityful and they dont even announce the court at halftime.

Your dance is before homecoming? How does that work? Is attendance high?

Our dance is the night of the game, and has very low attendance. Everyone is sweaty and tired and doesn't want to go to some lame high school dance.

Is your dance formal, semi-formal, or casual?

What about your homecoming court?

For some reason, our homecoming court wears pantsuits/business attire.

Is your dance formal, semi-formal, or casual?its semi-formal but most of the kids so formal

What about your homecoming court?the homecoming court is announced the day after the dance, they never have to get dressed up for anything

For some reason, our homecoming court wears pantsuits/business attire.

hope Im helping

Definitely. What does the court wear when they're being announced? Oh, wait... are they announced at the end of the dance or the next day? At the pep rally or the game?

And what time is the dance?

Underclassmen at my school don't really pay attention to it - it's a "seniors only" thing. The farthest I did for homecoming was go to the football game with all my friends.

their announced at the pep rally, so they're wearing the clothes they wore to school that day

We have 5 theme days the week before homecoming. Each year we have a school theme, and each grade level gets a theme within that theme. (last year it was dr. suess and each grade level had one of his famous books as a theme)
Friday afternoon we have a parade through the town. Each grade level (freshman-seniors) have a float with a theme. Friday night is the game. We go all out. School colors, face paint, it's great. We used to have pep rallies that Friday, but last year, seniors threw eggs at the freshman, so no more pep rallies. :(
The dance is that Saturday. It's semi-formal. I mean, the girls wear nice dresses, guys wear nice pants and a shirt, sometimes a tie.
Not prom wear, by any means.
I love it.

Ooh... Dr. Suess. I like that. Might steal it for next year.

I think the Saturday dance would be better, not right after the football game. Yet, I know I'll have a band competition that Saturday, and Cross Country has meets.

Can't set a date that'll work for everyone, though.

homecoming week is huge at my school.

The whole school goes with a theme (energy drinks last year)
and then each grade has one within that theme (We were rock star)
Each grade builds a float around there theme and they work on that all week.

Each day is different ususally something like pj day, superhero day, wacky wensday, Theme day (dress like your theme) then school spirit day.

All through the week we have stuff at lunch like kareoke and different contests
we have a thing at my school called Mr. Bulldog (so kinda like a homecoming king i guess) And they do a bunch of weird stuff and they have their own little contest thing (usually involving a talent, why they should win, and a relay of sorts) And then who ever wins gets a sash and stuff. We do this during our rally. The rally more involves sports teams, the above mr bulldog thing, announcing the court but not queen. and then the cheerleaders and drill team perform. Its not that fun of a rally besides the mr bulldog thing.

We have the dance on Friday night right after the game and its casual.

we have a parade where all of the classes make a float and they're judged. then the winner is announced that night at the game.
the whole week is spirit week, which each homeroom class competing for the most people dressed up each day.
then there's a pep rally on friday.
then the game friday night.
and all the teachers who want to can decorate their door for a door judging competition.

well our homecoming starts with spirit week and we have different themes every year but pajama day class and school colors stay the same every year. then on Saturday morning we have the homecoming parade and carnival, and the games. But we have soccer homecoming games instead of football because soccer is very big in my town.

then that night we have the dance.

i love it, deff my favorite dance of the year! :goodvibes

My school cant do the dance on saturday because the girl soccer team has their homecoming game Saturday afternoon and they think its unfair to have a dance after a game

Our Homecoming Week has a 5 day Spirit Week with Different days (Costume Day, Flash-Back Day, Miss-Match Day etc) On Wednesday of the week, we have a huge bonfire that a lot of students attend.. where we play games and annouce Homecoming Court and the Cheerleaders, Poms, and Marching Band perform at. On Friday,we have a huge pep rally during school, annoucing Homecoming Court, Cheerleaders, Color Guard, Poms, and Marching Band perform, and they play a few spirit games. Then we have a homecoming parade showing off Homecoming Court again (with all their clubs that nominted them) then there is this Huge tail gate party before the game for all the parents and students. then its the actual game.

a lot of fun! one of the best weeks for me cause im so busy!

Each year homecoming has a different theme...this year it was New York
Each day is a different theme that kinda has something to due with the overall theme
Monday: Wall Street
Tuesday: Cold Day(where big coats, hats, mittens, ect.)
Wednesday: Class Color
Thursday: Pajama Day
Friday: School Colors
Court is announced Thursday after school
Football game friday night and court is introduced during halftime
Dance is on Saturday night and it is formal

When I was in high school we had spirit week with a different theme each day (pj day, blah blah etc.) friday was ALWAYS spirit day. Court was announced in an assembly on tuesday and they had to dress nice(shirt and tie for the guys and dress or pant suit for the ladies) Top five were announced thursday(via the pa system on morning announcements) and were presented at halftime on friday night and then the winners were announced. Pep rally was on friday where the spirit sword was awarded to the appropriate class...whoever had most points got the sword. (this was determined by your class dressing up throughout the week you got points...would not want to be the one to total those up:rotfl:)The parade was on friday afternoon before the game and that was through the neighborhood. Each class had floats, and the different sports teams and organizations as well as the band participated. And of course the dance was on saturday night where dress was i guess semi formal, but girls usually ended up wearing anything from semi formal to formal dresses. Mine were always pretty formal. Homecoming was always a good time at my school. :thumbsup2

my schools has a pep rally friday and a dance on saturday. saturday is when all of our games are we don't have a parade and no one ever really goes to the games. Homecoming isn't huge at our school. just the dance. the big thing is our F.A.S.T week it is a spirrit week and on a half day we have a huge compettion between all the classes including a pepe rally and every thing F.A.S.T is way bigger than homecoming

My school does the fun dress up days. we have cornation (anounncing of homecoming court) on monday then parade and football game on friday. The dance on saturday night. are dance is formal.

oh and our dance is semi-formal like girls wear dresses but they're not long or anything last year my dress was a bit above my knees
and the guys just dress nicer than usual :goodvibes
