I e-mailed DVC complaining that I was never informed of the Homecoming Event- I got a call last night, 2 days after the e-mail from a woman named Jackie, never got her last name. At any rate she said all members were sent a invite. I told her I never received one, told her about the infamous Connecticut no-mail situation from years ago. She said another mailing is going out this week. At any rate I could not make it. I would have liked to have received an invite though. What impressed me about this whole thing is that this woman actually called me. I am still in shock.

I remember the year they dropped all of us Nutmeggers! I did receive the Member Homecoming Mailing quite awhile ago. It was made to look like a scroll/treasure map with a removable band.

Jackie was the name of the person who is suppossed to be our member contact. It's good to hear that she got in touch with you -- by phone is even better.

Not that I could make it since I had already planned my Last Easter Resort Stay!

But It would make for a nice souvie!

I would have thought that since one of the main events is the grand opening at SSR, that at least the SSR owners would have received an invitation to attend their own resort's grandopening.

That makes me think it is truly just a big sales pitch to the current DVC I owners to seel add-ons, but then why increase the price per point before the event. Increase on 5/9, event later in May.

That's nothing. When they sent out the DVC/Mickey head/American flag pins after 9/11 we never got any. When we called to ask, they said they sent them out and there were no more to send. Oh well.

We didn't receive the invitation either. Our ownership is SSR also. I only knew about due to these boards.:(

I don't remember all the details, but the 9/11 pins did not go to everybody because Disney was forced to pull them. It had something to do with the inscription on the back of the pin, possibly a trademark or copyright infringement. From what I read months later, the unsent inventory was supposedly scraped, but instead was showing up on ebay and flea markets.

I dont know...there is just something about being "invited" to something that costs so much money for me to attend....I think the term is a bit disingenuous on the part of Disney

Oh, I don't know about that - I've been invited to plenty of charity functions - and weddings - that ending being very expensive! ;)

Pam, I also remember at the OKW annual meeting that followed that mailing "issue," a CT DVC member got up at the meeting & asked about it. The person who answered him was trying to "blame" the US Postal Service & this member was a US Postal Service employee. I also think this member is on this board because I remember him writing about it after the meeting.

Judith--it was not the postal service it was DVC. No one living in CT got notice of the new points to be sold at OKW because of the added buildings. OKW members were to have first go at the points but CT residents never got notice nor an apology or a second mailing, typical DVC service.
