I got a call yesterday that Chef Art Smith's Homecomin was cancelling our reservation. Apparently they rented the restaurant out for a private event and are cancelling all existing reservations for that night (May 2.) So now I need a new plan for our Disney Spring Day. We do not eat much red meat or seafood. What are some restaurants that you enjoyed that I should look into? It doesn't have to be TS, in fact with only a month to go it might be easier to plan on CS then try to get a new ADR.

As for Homecomin, it was the restaurant I was most excited to try. I tried moving things around to get it on another full day, but this late there was no option that didn't mean I had to cancel a different ADR, hard to get fastpass, or a tour. The only day that might work was arrival day. We had planned to go into MK for a few hours and use our 3 booked fastpasses, but since non of those are must do rides we could go to DS instead. The problem is our flight doesn't get in until 4 o'clock, and if anything went wrong we might miss an ADR. Does anyone know if Homecomin's missed ADR policy is the same as the Disney Owned restaurants? Would we be charged if we didn't make it? How bad of a wait would we have if we did a walk up? Is that even possible?

Thanks in advance for any advise.

If you made the reservation through Disney's ADR system it would be treated as such and I don't think you can book them through opentable dot com. so you would be charged if you miss the reservation unless you can cancel the night before. We ate there last month without a reservation (walk-up) and only waited a few minutes on a Saturday afternoon. Dinnertime may get a little busy but you can always walk around the DS area if you have to wait a little while (I wouldn't risk booking it for the day your fly in). We were excited to try it unfortunately for us it didn't live up to our expectations after reading so many rave reviews we won't return there anytime soon.

The Boathouse is another nice option and you can book them through opentable (along with several other DS restaurants), the nice thing with opentable is you won't get charged if you miss it. (although out of courtesy call them if you know a bit ahead of time you can't make or cancel on their website/app).

I have to tell you, there is nothing at Homecomin' that is so fabulous that you should miss time in MK for it. We ate there last month and the fried chicken was very good but nothing earth shattering and the sides were very mediocre. The fried chicken at '50's Prime Time is just as good as is some that I have had at regular diners. I really would not miss any park time to dine there.

As a matter of fact, House of Blues has a pretty amazing fried chicken entree and their sides are very good. They have a pretty extensive menu and you can make a reservation through Open Table.

I haven't even been to either place and I agree. No way I'd give up the parks for a DS restaurant. I'd just hit it up next time and try a different DS restaurant on my planned DS day. SO many options there now. It's a bummer they cancelled your ADR for a private event, I guess CRT isn't the only one who does it :)

Raglan Road is a must do for me in Disney Springs. The food is great and the entertainment great as well. I ate at Homecoming and I loved it but I wouldn't miss park time in order to eat there.

Raglan Road food and entertainment wise is great, but very loud!

Thanks everyone. I've decided to forget about Homecoming and keep our original plans for arrival day.

Raglan Road looks like it might be fun. How loud does it get?

Raglan Road is a lot of fun and the food is good. If you want to try Homecoming, I believe they have a limited menu takeout window.

Another vote for House of Blues, we came into House of Blues with low expectations and were pleasantly surprised, you'll even get similar styles of food.

We personally didn't enjoy Raglan Road much, it always seems packed to the point that the servers and hosts can't keep up and the food is just ok to us.

Raglan's loudness is related to how close you're seated to the stage.

If I had to pick one restaurant to eat at in Disney Springs it would be Morimoto Aisa (Paddlefish and STK notwithstanding as I haven't been to either yet)

My May 2 ADR at Homecomin' was also cancelled. Although I was really looking forward to it, I have seen a lot of decent-looking counter service options at DS and decided to not schedule another DS ADR. I did a little minor reworking of my schedule and added a park ADR. Also, Disney hadn't cancelled the Homecomin' ADR, so I cancelled it in MDE just to be on the safe side - I didn't want to risk a possible no show fee!
