I seriously want to try Homecomin' on our upcoming trip. But my travel partner has dairy allergies and, looking at the menu, I'm wondering how limited she is going to be (it looks like A LOT of the menu items have milk, cream or cheese in them) and how accommodating the kitchen is with tweaking recipes.

Does anyone have any first hand experience with this restaurant?

We just went a couple of weeks ago and the server was very thorough proactively asking if anyone had any food allergies. They seemed quite willing to accommodate needs/requests. We have been there a few times since it opened and I highly recommend this restaurant.

My son has dairy allergies. We ate here over the summer; there were a few options for him and we had no issues.

Homecoming is usually one of my favorites, but I was a little disappointed in our visit a few weeks ago. My dad was diagnosed with heart failure 6 months ago and has to stick to 2000 mg of salt a day (which is the normal daily allowance anyway). Well our server got a little sassy when we mentioned his salt restriction. His immediate response was, “well this is southern food and pretty much everything is going to have salt.” Little did he know we are from South Carolina and are around that type of food everyday.

Anyway, he got the manager and she was super knowledgeable about which foods were the lowest in sodium (turns out they don’t preseason their beef, so my dad went with the burger). Our food took over an hour though, which I thought was ridiculous for 2 salads and a burger.

I would definitely mention the dairy issue. I have an intolerance to heavy cream and full fat milk products (skim milk doesn’t bother me at all). Well I got the salad with balsamic dressing and it was a creamy balsamic. I didn’t think there would be an issue until about 30 minutes later when it hit me :scared:

We had a great experience at virtually every Disney restaurant regarding his sodium issue. The best at handling it was actually Ohana.

We have found that all the Disney (not just Disney owned, but any restaurant on Disney property) go very far to accommodate those with any type of food allergy.
