Is there a reason BCV is hard to get points at versus OKW or BWV etc...

What is the best Home Away from Home for a family of 4 that lives in Seattle with a 3yr DS & 5yr DS - I am guessing DS stands for Disney Son -

We just bought pts at the BCV on the advice of an aquaintence - but would like to hear from members on what the different places have to offer.

Each DVC resort has unique features. BCV is in the Epcot area of WDW. You are walking distance to Epcot. You can take a shuttle boat to MGM. THe busses will take you to the Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom. BCV has Stormalong Bay which may consider the best pool in the area. There is also a character breakfast at Cape May and you are walking distance to Boardwalk and night time entertainment.

Again each resort has its qualities. You will receive a different response from many of use as we all feel strongly about our 'home' resort. OKW has larger rooms and is more spread out but is is further away from the parks. It might take a bit more time to ride the busses there BUT is is close to Downtown Disney. SSR is the closest to Downtown Disney, the newest resort, and least corowded at this time BUT there is ongoing construction as they continue to built.

You will have the opportunity to say at all resorts over the years. My DH wants to do the 'circut' - stay at every Disney resort in the next few years. I love OKW and BCV. Haven't stayed anywhere else.

Its a smaller resort.

Do you mean harder to find a resale contract? In addition to BCV having a fewer number of rooms, OKW and BWV are older. That means that there has been more time for life to happen - death, divorce, job loss, vacation habit changes, etc. Those are the typical reasons people sell. Most who do sell, typically do not do so early in their membership.

There are only 208 units in BCV plus they have one of the best pools in the country.

Great feedback on the pools.

Living in Seattle menas our kids cannot play in pools - too darn cold. Hot here is 80 degrees

Originally from Sacramento where it gets over 100 - dry heat - many days a year - you can swim in your pool all summer - no worries.

Here in Seattle - I have to put warm water from the kitchen faucet into the wading pool on sunny days.

It is such a personal preference thing. Our favorite is BCV because of the beachy theming and atmosphere of this resort. Others love the lodgey national parks feel of VWL which does not appeal to me at all.

the pool at BC/YC SALB that BCV can use - is really GREAT....

however unless your kids are well behaved and great swimmers - I would try to pick them in the kids pool hard to do - because SALB looks so much fun - or I would pool hop.

POFQ has a very tame slide - but kids your age will LOVE it - older kids would be very bored - so unless the older kids are staying here they avoid this pool - good thing - no teenagers splashing water in your kids faces....this slide is so very tame that the lifeguard will actually let you down it with your kids - very good starter slide. So I would pool hop for right now!!!

OKW is the closest to POFQ.

OKW is the oldest and has the more rooms both in number and size.

BWV is next in line and has more rooms than either BCV or VWL.

I would go with OKW and save your points - then when your kids are older start staying at BCV.

but I understand completely if you only want to stay at BCV - believe me it was about 4 years after I brought OKW that we stayed anywhere else - then only very short trips....your heart is generally where you buy.

it is generally around 5 years out that you generally see a lot of resales for any resort - but dead, divorce, or financial troubles can happen at any time.

It's a fun pool with a neat slide.

In theory, you can get into the pools year round; they are only closed when lightning is present. The slides are closed when there are no lifeguards - usually at night.

But, it can get a bit chilly in the winter months.
