So would you home swap...?

Ok so i can't imagine it to be a walk in the park as it was in the Holiday film with cameron diaz and kate winslet but how cool would it be

Don't worry i'm not asking to do it....hell no i was just wondering if anyone's experienced it before and what did they think...?

This is something we are really interested in doing about 2 years from now.
We live in a small rural village in New Hampshire, USA.
There are 20+ lakes in town, so in summer, lots of swimming, fishing, hunting, camping & boating. We are 10 minutes away from an unspoiled state park ideal for camping and mild to moderate hiking trails.
Our town has a fantastic 6 hr per day summer camp for kids, open even for renters. The cost per child is $50 for a 5 week period.
For winter sport, we are no more than a 25 minute drive from 2 small, family style ski resorts.
Fall, there is leaf peeping and the thrice champion Guinness Book, Keene Pumpkin Festival and more fairs, church suppers and apple days than you can shake a stick at!
We are 2 hrs from Boston.
There are various house exchange agencies about. Yes, it does seem fun & interesting! I'll bet the Orlando homes are at a premium!

Wow that sounds lovely....would you dare though...i'd be really wary - i don't think i'd let someone come over without me being there no way but still if i was here i would find it odd letting someone i've never ever met before stay in my home and show them the surroundings....that aside in theory it sounds fantastic IMO....

Oh, we'd be a little leery I'm sure. :teeth:

That said because the town is tiny & we live on the Main Street, if the swappers tried to move our furniture out, well, the police--all four of them-- eat breakfast, lunch & dinner at the general store directly across the street.
And you just know the 'General Store Regulars' would notice if anything went terribly awry! :rotfl2:
I'd stash our valuables in the safety deposit box, leave the comp towers with my inlaws, ditto for our hard copy financials.
I am imagining there is insurance coverage for this situation, too.

I have thought about it and I would do it. I'd like to stay in a different country for like, a month at least.
I have even seen where the swappers take care of the pets left behind. I feel confident that when we are ready to do a house swap that I would be prepared and have researched enough to have a successful one.

Absolutely not! My house is my space. It is the only thing that is really mine (well at least part of it's mine... I:rotfl: share it with a husband, teenage son, and 2 year old Golden Retriever)!

The only way I might ever consider it would be with a close family member (as in sibling) or a best friend and since they all live within a 30 mile radius of me... that is not going to happen! :rotfl:
