If I book 11 months out in my home resort because I want a specific week etc. when I hit 7 months out can I transfer this to another resort if available.

So if my home resort is BWV and I book 11 months out can I change this to BLT/BCV 7 months out

You wouldn't "transfer" the reservation - it would work as a cancel and rebook.

But yes, many owners do book their home resort to make sure that they have a spot, and then try to change at the 7 month window. There is no fee to make this change.

But be aware that if you are traveling at certain times of the year (Fall Frenzy), that making such a change is easier said than done.

If the resort you want is booked solid at 7 months out, you can still waitlist the stay and see if it comes through. (You can request 2 options to waitlist.) I have had mixed results with waitlists - sometimes they come through and sometimes they don't.

also if you have enough points you can booked the resort you want at 7 months and then cancel your 11 month ressie, other wise you could miss out on both ressies.

There isn't a hold feature when canceling and re-booking. You could transfer your reservation to free up the points and find out that the availability at the new resort has disappeared while you were making the switch. That has happened to us when MS was making our reservation.

If someone transfers me points say BCV (their home) and my home resort is BWV can I book BCV with these points 11 months in advance?

Transferred points retain their UY and home resort status. You might not see them in your account, you have to call MS to use them and you are not allowed to pay a member money for their points but you can pay Disney for theirs.

...you are not allowed to pay a member money for their points...

...but sometimes people do.

(But the contracts do say "no compensation" so if there are issues with a transfer, don't expect Disney to get involved.)
