Roger told me of a very interesting home remedy today that I've never heard of. He says that when he is getting a cold he puts an onion in his sock (I would assume a piece of onion not a whole onion) and says his family has been doing that since his grandmother's grandmother or before that. I was just wondering if anyone else had any interesting home remedies to things.

I have a great one for mosquito bites, but it only works if you get it on them within one day of being bitten.

-- equal parts baking soda and cornstarch, mix with a little water to make a paste and apply to bites

Leave it on til it dries out. Takes away the itch and the bumps go down faster.

Then the usual - gargle with warm salt water for a sore throat. Stuff like that.

I've never heard of the onion thing. I know a few who have tried a peeled onion under their arm to raise their temperature. :p
