I think I'm catching a cold. Any good home remedies out there?????

You want to support your immune system. So healthy food, vitamin C (some say vitamin D helps, too), echinacea... I really like chopped up garlic in nice raw honey, BUT that gives me heinous heartburn so I can't do it often. When I do, it tends to stop the cold flat.

If you have a Korean restaurant (or cook) available, there's a spicy bean paste soup they make that has fresh bean sprouts added at the last minute, and that is really tremendous for helping the immune system. When DH is around (he travels for work) and can get the ingredients, he likes to make it when someone is sick. His mom argues that it doesn't do any good without the marrow in it, but we're vegetarian and it has worked just fine without that for us.

We're veggies too! I was thinking soup with vinegar, garlic (LOTS, added after it cooks) and some hot sauce.... so I bet that's along the same lines. I haaaate being sick. I did get echinacea tea at lunch time to drink when I get home, so at least I'm on the right track!!!

Increase your vitamin C intake (either vitamin C pills or orange juice). It'll help boost your immune system and fight off the cold.

Good luck!!!

This is really old-fashioned. You can sweat it out by drinking a hot toddy, taking a couple of buffered aspirins and going to bed. You need a couple of ounces of your favourite liquor, some honey/sugar to taste, one or two lemons, and some hot water. Juice the lemons (take the seeds out), put as much fresh lemon juice as you can stand into a coffee mug, add the liquor, then pour in boiling water, and stir in honey or sugar until dissolved. Taste, and adjust ingredients to your preference. Down the hatch!

I take a multivitamin daily, but add a glass of orange juice in the morning when I have a cold. I usually don't drink orange juice.

Also, I drink a lot of hot tea, especially chamomille with honey. It soothes the throat.

Vitamins C & D really help, soup garlic hot liquids all great suggestions too. Feel better!
