Home movie background music

My iTunes account only has songs with lyrics and I've used all the pre-loaded music with iMovie.

Are there CD's out there specifically made for use with home movies? Tracks longer than a minute or two?

Have you thought about old movie soundtracks? You should be able to find a variety of moods in the orchestral scores from Hollywood of the 50s and 60s.

You can use any song you want. If you have any CD's, burn them onto your computer and use that. You can also purchase anything off iTunes or amazon or any other on-line place for music.

You can add any of your own music to iTunes, then use it in iMovie.

My parents used a Beatles album as the background for some old home movies that were transfered to tape (then to DVD years later). I used Billy Joel's version of "When you Wish upon a star" for one of our Disney home video's. I made a slide show of my DS' little league team using iMovie. For one year I used Dire Straights "Sultan of Swing", another one I used John Fogherty's "Centerfield" and another one I used Rascal Flatts "Summer Nights".

I bought a Disney's Greatest 2-CD set a few years back that I burned to the computer to use for our Disney home video's.

If you want Lyric-less or instrumental music... You can try some Karaoke discs or maybe even Itunes has instrumental versions of popular songs.

There are a few good ones out there. Check the Disney Fairtale Weddings CD and look for Disney Lullaby albums. Karaoke CDs are also a good bet as they typically have 2 versions of each song one with vocals and the other without.

As for a good place to find them other than iTunes. Check your local library.
