I made some candy today, something I usually only do at Christmastime (we delayed our celebration). It's a lot of effort, but I truly love the stuff; it's just a lot more special than what you can buy in a store. (That may be because I have so many childhood memories of making it, but it's still darned tasty, LOL.)

So, how do you feel about it? Love it? Hate it? Hate the effort of making it? Favorite kinds?

My mom likes making candy, has ever since we were kids. I liked the chocolate covered cherries the best, although when she made a chocolate house, that was fun to destroy. It was always covered with different candies every year.

I don't do it often because of all the work and some things are tricky with temperature, etc. I appreciate people who do take the time to make it. I consider it "extra special" and very generous! I made some Christmas Cracker candy this year, but that was all.

I make buckeyes sometimes and have made fudge.

When I was a kid, my Mom always made Easter candy using molds and pastel colored chocolate melts. I loved those little candies. She hasn't made them in probably 35 years, but I still remember them vividly.

I used to make those too! (I think I still have some molds, actually.) - I would do them for Christmas, Easter... even had an alphabet one to make letters for cakes.

I remember my mom and one of her friends making hard candy when I was a kid - cinnamon, clove...all sorts of shiny colors like tiny bits of glass.

It's not a thing anyone in my family ever did/does. I did it one year but it was so much work and honestly, I prefer See's candies so I just ask for a custom mix pound box every year. Eating some right now!

I have made some candy items in the past. I can recall chocolate covered pretzels, pretzel rods decorated with holiday themed molds you kind of painted with different colored chocolate, and other chocolate dipped or covered items. The only one I have consistently made for decades now, is peanut brittle.

I make home-made molded candies and dipped pretzels with my DD every year. I like to think people enjoy it... But I'm not a fan of the "mystery" cookies I get from neighbors.
