This is my first trip to WDW with my 2 kids (aged 6, 3). I heard so much about making your own autograph book, but I need help to get started. What kind of book do you buy? How do you decorate it? What do your blank autograph pages look like? Do you use stickers for each page for each character?? Sorry, I have lots to learn!!

What I did was buy a (6x6- I think) spiral bound book with a foam cover at Walmart. It was in the craft section and about $4. I used fabric puff paint to decorate the cover. The pages are white card stock. We bought a pack of Sharpie markers (click kind) for the characters to sign with. When DS gets home he can decorate the pages with stickers or whatever he chooses.
It would just be too stressful for me to decorate the pages before we go and to try to find the 'right' page when a character pops up! Though if you're less high strung than I am- decorate away. You'll have a great book of memories. :goodvibes

First, I don't scrapbook, but my DD does. I hope that I am answering this right. She bought an 8x8 scrapbook from Creative Memories for my DGD to bring with her last week. It was a plain book with a DIsney logo on the front. DGD just gave the book to the characters to sign, and we took pictures of them. She is going to order additional inserts because DGD almost filled the entire thing up, and will place a picture on the opposite page. DD downloaded Disney clipart and will use her stickermaker to make the appropriate stickers for each signature.

The size was nice because it was easy to carry, but was big enough for the characters to sign with room left for DD to personalize each page.

I bought 4x6 spiral bound index cards from an office supply store, and used the back as the front and the front as the back (so that the lines are on the back of the page).

I used Disney scrapbook paper to cover the front & back covers, and then ribbon to "bind" the edges (glued the ribbon around all edges of the cover). I decorated the cover with stickers, and then used ribbon to kind of "hide" the wire (just tied a bunch of strips of ribbon around the wires - it kind of looks "fluffy"). I tied a longer ribbon to the bottom of the wire binding, to tie to a clickable sharpie so that a pen is attached to the book.

But what I found was a 5X7 spiral notebook, spirals on top, card stock paper that was perforated. We are going to remove the autographs & put them in a scrapbook with the corresponding photographs.

I found the book at Hobby Lobby. It was not in the isle with the other scrap-booking or card stock items, I located it with sketch books & tracing paper. I didn't really decorate the book, I used shiny alphabet stickers to label the cover "My Disney Autograph Book".

What was a BIG hit was decorating the autograph pen!!! This got the attention of the characters, which in turn gave the children a bit more interaction. :thumbsup2

For my Dniece, I purchased a few plastic flowers & a bee & used masking tape to attach it to the Sharpie. For Dnephew, I got a cheap party rattle & some colored feathers & did the same, masking tape to a sharpie. The rattle was a hit.

One other thing, we used a note we preprinted in large bold type, that said "HI my name is.....Will you please sign my autograph book? Thank you" And used paperclips to attach it to the upper page & moved it after each autograph. This got alot of our autographs personalized instead of just a signature.

The Dollar Tree had sports theme autograph books. I bought one for my nephew.

What a great idea!! I hadn't thought about decorating the pens! I've got 2 weeks to go - I've got time to do that. Last year one of my kids made me a pen/pen holder at school - it was a flower pot with black beans (as dirt), the pens had flowers attached, wrapped with green floral tape. The cutest thing. Now, for my two boys (6 and 7), I can't see them getting excited about a flower. But I'll figure out something.

I also LOVE the idea of the note paperclipped! That will also eliminate the possibility of a character signing the wrong (lined) side of the page. I'm going to do that too!!!
