We've actually been home about 2 hours now but I wanted to get Kevin settled in before I went to my computer.

As Pete mentioned the surgery went well. It was longer than we expected, which of course made it so much more fun for me waiting with is folks and brother.

The doctor seems to think everything went as planned and the prognosis is good. Of course they can never commit to anything like this so he has to throw in the disclaimer there is always a small chance the operation didn't work.

What was/is encouraging is he said that while he could have done any one of the procedures and hope that it corrected the detached retina....he did all three (buckle, vitrousectomy, gas bubble) and he lasered the scar tissue off of the implant. So having done all 3 he feels like this has the best chance of working.

Kevin is still very groggy and I have to wake him to eat and drink a little something every hour. Other than that he says he feels OK - no pain and only a little discomfort in his eye.

Tomorrow we see the doctor again and hopefully will have more news.

Thanks for all your good thoughts and prayers - I'm confident they helped.

John

Thanks for the good news. I read about the buckle and the bubble. So does he have to lay in a strange position now?

Thanks John. Love to you both.

Get some rest, I'm sure you both need it.

Thanks for the good news. I read about the buckle and the bubble. So does he have to lay in a strange position now?

I read about the bubble too and they had a picture of some very strange contraption for sleeping on the stomach. I'm sure Kevin would love it.

I'm glad you are both home and the doctor thinks it went alright. Give Kevin our best.

Kim

Thanks for the update John. I know that Kevin is getting the best care. Definitely make Kevin take it slow. His full recovery is the most important thing.

Glad Kevin is home and on the way to healing! Take some time for yourself too John!!
:thumbsup2

Get well soon Kevin!

John - make sure to get some rest yourself. You can't take care of him if you get run down! You especially can't make him brownies....

Feel better, Kevin !!! :thumbsup2

The crab cakes have been lonely without you ! :p
