Hello all, we made it home -- in spite of the ice storm and snow storm here in Iowa. I want to be back on the Magic right now!

We had cat. 3 room no. 8032 and it was a fantastic room. Perfect location, just under the Cove cafe area. The verandah was huge. Our concierge team did a wonderful job. I needed an '05 pin for a fellow DIS board member and I had no idea how crazy some "pin" people can be! The last night of our cruise I was still without the pin and requested Ana's assistance. She came through, yeah!!! I will get it in the mail ASAP.

The weather was so so but it is the time of year. One just never knows. Grand Cayman was cold and Cozumel was hot. We made it to Castaway Cay, yeah, so we are 7 for 7.

The food was fantastic this cruise. Again no Palo. Our dining team was Boris and Maria. They were great. Out of all of the servers I have had since being diagnosed with Gluten intolerance, Boris new exactly what I could and could not have. Even our head dining room server was great because one night I could not preorder because the menu was not out. He stopped me during lunch and we figured out what I could have. We were told the 10 day and this New Year's cruise had special menus. I don't know if these menus are a permanent change or not.

Our room host was Somepop (sp?) but on day 2 of the cruise he broke his foot so Nigel took over.

If you ever get a chance to go on a Disney New Year's Eve cruise, GO! It was a blast. The Christmas decorations were still up and so pretty to look at. Also, a thumb's up for the new Pirate party them evening. That was a lot of fun.

We rebooked for March 18, '06--we are guessing that is our Spring Break. For others info, they still have Cat. 3's available that sailing and it is an Eastern which is our favorite.

Hi Kathy, I was hoping you would post about your trip

A New Year's Eve cruise sounds like loads of fun, I'm so glad you had a great time. Was this your first time in a cat. 3 ? Here's hoping your next March cruise has seas like glass.

We leave for our cruise in 3 weeks, guess I had best get packing........

Glad to hear you had such a nice time on your NYE cruise :D Did you get a special DCL lithograph for NYE? What does it look like? We got one on our 10-day Magic cruise and plan to have it framed.

That sounds great! I was just mentioning to my family the other day that I thought a New Year's Eve cruise would be a blast, even just a 4-day, and we should look into it. Can you believe no one agreed with me? They would rather be home! I would think spending NYE and New Year's Day on DCL would be just about perfect! :boat:

This was our third cat. 3 but the first time in the one designed with the pull down bed in the living room area. We preferred that over the over design but hey, I would take the other cat. 3 if I couldn't get the midship ones. :).

We did get a print but I can't remember what it looked like.

New Year's Eve on a cruise ship is great time. This is the third time we did NYE on a ship and the first on DCL. We won't be able to do it next year because of how the holiday falls. We took our daughter out of school for two days but next year I believe it would be for 4 days so we just can't do that.

(Yes, she missed two scheduled days of school but because of an ice storm on Monday school was cancelled and today, Wed., we are having a huge snow storm so no school today. She ended up missing only one day, go figure.) Kathy

Thanks for the great review. Sounds like a fun New Year's trip. We're booked on the March 18, 2006 cruise, as well. We're also in Cat 3 midship!
Glad to know our "neighbors" will be fellow Disers! :smooth:

Kathy---

We missed the DIS meet at the sailaway( as my daughter was down by the stage having a great time dancing I realized that it was time for the meet) so we never actually got to meet up with anyone. We had a really good time on the cruise. We were on last year's NYE cruise and we noticed a couple of nice differences. The CM's were much less pushy about ordering champagne for NYE in fact they weren't pushy about it at all. We did rebook for NYE 2006 but I don't know if we will go again after that. It was over a $1000 price increase for 2 categories lower. Now my son will be 3 then so we do have to pay for him but I still thought it was a big jump but then again the rebooking line was always full.
My dd loved the kids club. She was in the 3-4 age group and I thought they had great activities planned. A few were the same as last year but there were several new things as well.
My ds didn't like Flounder's. Don't get me wrong it had nothing to do with the nursery. They do an amazing job in there. I was impressed with alll of them but he is 17 months and did not want to leave his mom and dad and be with strangers.
Palo's was very good. We enjoyed talking with Sasha and Florencia and are meals were excellent. I think better than last year.

Now it is back to reality and back to work!
