I am required to do home fire drills/tornado drills every month because I run a home daycare out of my home. We are pretty good about setting off the smoke detector and running out to our meeting place in the front of our home.
Today, I put some bacon in the oven to cook and went out in the backyard. DS8 & DS3 were watching a DVD. I heard the smoke detector go off because of the grease from the bacon (makes you really want to eat it, doesn't it...
) so I come inside. Where are my children....sitting out in the front of the house waiting for us at our meeting spot. I've always wondered if they would react without my telling them it was a drill and apparently it's been instilled in them.
So, now I'm curious. Do you do fire drills at your home? I know if I wasn't required to because of my licensing I probably never would have. But, I saw first hand that it does teach the kids what to do in an emergency.

At least I know he can get out!
