Home Depot or Lowe's...which do you prefer?
Do you find one has better quality, or better selection, or better prices....just curious as to what others think.

I voted Lowes. Mainly because that is what is closest to us. But I have to say that overall I like the layout of Lowes better than Home Depot. It just works better for me.

Lowe's mistreats their employees at times. I won't shop there.

What times? I'll tell dh to take off from work then ;) He has nothing but good stuff to say about them. (only part time for 6m now) My other friend is 3rd in command there she loves it too.

Oh and Lowes. I can't find anything in Home Depot. I dont like their lay out of the store around me.

Lowes is closer so I go there more.
They tie for both having a nice plant nursery.
I like Behr paint so I only buy any paint at the Depot.

Both stores make me want to run screaming...but it's because I cannot stand warehouse type stores. Too muhc stuff, too overwhelming, too bright etc. Employees who don't care and are no help. Plus the actual content of the stores is of no intrest to me (hardward primarily). However of the two, we prefer Lowe's since it's closest AND I prefer it because the neon orange of the Depot makes me nauseous and feel like my eyeballs are frying!

I thought I liked Home Depot better, but Saturday when I was shopping, I looked around at both, but ended up buying a sink, faucets, medicine cabinet, lights at Lowe's due to price and variety. Not saying I wouldn't shop at HD. We have both within 1/2 mile of each other.

Lowes, the stores here are nicer and easier to navigate.

they also have killer sales!

Our Home Depot and Loews are right next to each otehr so location is not an issue.

Loews is much cleaner (clean restrooms especially), the empoloyees are slightly more informed, the store is more organized.

We do like the kid's Saturday programs at Home Depot better and also HD's lumber is better and better priced, but for everything else Loew's wins hands down.

I bought a lot of the stuff for our bathroom remodel at Lowes because the prices were better. However, we did shop HD for a few things that they had which would have been "special order" at Lowes. So I would have to say BOTH!~:confused3

Lowe's
They seem to have more and nicer stuff. They also don't stock stuff with those annoying forklifts or whatever they are that nearly run you over and beep beep beep while you are in there. I find that very distracting.

I Love Home Depot:love: ...I know where everything is and they treat us really good. I have bought one thing from Lowes and the employee acted like i was bothering him because he had to get it off the top shelf! Never been back!

I was thrilled when we got a Leroy Merlin store here. It's alot better than the little mom and pop stores that are about the size of a 7-11. However, the owners of Leroy Merlin needs to walk into a :worship: Lowe's or Home Depot to see what it is really all about! I feel like a kid in a candy store when I visit them on my annual shopping trip.

There are two HD's in town, but I have to drive about 10 miles on the highway to get to Lowes, so Lowes loses.
In my opinion, Lowes tends to stray closer to the interior decorating aeshthetic (to get women to shop there) while HD is the more "manly" store. I found the prices for the things I am looking for to be about the same or cheaper at HD, especially factoring in the time and gas I'd waste goping to Lowes. And the Lowes closest to me has more clueless employees ("hey, assistant manager, what is a wire nut and [duh] do we sell them, b/c this lady wants to know or whatever?") that the two local HD's.

Our local Home Depot is like a ghost town. A lot of product, but no people. It's hard to find an employee even. However, at our local Lowe's, it's always busy!

You hit it right on the head! Lowe's tends to be more decorator-y (we buy our ceiling fans, rugs, etc there); HD tends to be more supply-ish (we buy lumber, building supplies, paint there).

I love both and we shop at both, depending on the need.
