Ok this is my 2nd part of my trip report. The first part is over in the USF forums http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=27341569#post27341569as I started off there then made my way to Disney. The original plan was to stay from August 23rd-30th at the Royal Pacific Resort and go to the MK on Thursday for the day. After 4 days, we did everything and well, got bored! So Tuesday morning DW woke up and said "let's go stay at Disney". Being a Disney freak she wasn't getting any argument from me! So after a call to AAA we were booked at the AS Music with 3-day park hoppers.
August 27- Day 1
We arrived at the resort and checked in, got our tickets, stowed our bags and headed to Epcot! We got there around 10:30 and went right for Soarin'! After a 30 minute wait we were off over California! From there we walked to Nemo and got right on! This is great! We went to Test Track, got fast pass tickets and headed over to England for some fish and chips. We were surprised at how empty the park was! We ate on a bench overlooking the World Showcase and enjoyed a nice breeze on a hot day.
As we waited for our fast pass time we went to Ellen's Energy as we have done it in 10 years. 45 minutes later
we were on Test Track! From there we went back to the resort for a dip in the pool and a nap.
That night we went to The Animal Kingdom as they were open late. We were disappointed that the safari was closed as the animal attractions closed after 5, so we did Everest, Dinosaur and A Bug's Life. We ate at the Rainforest Cafe.
As the park closed the lines were long at the buses and the transportation tried to get the people on the buses as fast as possible. More on this later
Back to the hotel close to 9:30 and the pool is jumping! Not good since our room overlooked it! Needless to say the night was noisy and we got very little sleep, especially thanks to the noisy teenagers in the pool at 3am. A quick call to the front desk took care of that problem!
August 28th Day 2
We decided to get our room changed which they were able to switch us with one on the other side of the building over looking nothing...sweet silence.
We stayed at the pool for the morning and after lunch went to the Magic Kingdom for the night. Man it was hot!
We tried to see Ariel as she's DD5's favorite princess, but the line was long, it was hot and we'd seen her the past 2 years. Off to Toonland we go!
We went on Goofey's Barnyard Stormer and went over to the tent to meet the princesses...always a treat!
We made our way to Liberty Square as we had reservations at Liberty Tree. In an attempt to go to the Haunted Mansion DD5 got busted in the lip by a chain. Ok, I may have done it trying to get her in a restricted area to take a picture. Either way it was bleeding and she was crying. A cast member appeared to see what happened, and went to get ice. He returned with ice and an Ariel pin! He then guided us into the ride through the servant's quarters! SWEET!
Dinner at the Tree was phenomenal as always! After that we went on Splash Mountain, Pirates and saw the fireworks. Afterwards we stopped by the shops to pick up some stuff and headed for the dreaded bus line. Construction at a bridge halted all traffic going in and out of the MK for 20 minutes as they rerouted all buses. The line for the Music was twice as long as the one for sports, so I sold my wife on going there and walking over to our resort. Done and done. The bus driver was actually nice enough to bring us to our resort...great success. Off to bed in a nice, quiet room.
August 29th Day 3
Today we planned on going to Hollywood Studios, just for a few hours. The first thing we did was the Tower of Terror. DW is terrified of drops, but DD5 was brave enough to go on it with me and loved it! Ah my little thrill ride junkie! We went to see the Voyage of the Little Mermaid and as they stood inline I went to get fast pass tickets for the Toy Story Ride. Unfortunately they were all out...at 10:30am!!! The wait was 90 minutes...ugh. Looks like I'll have to wait until next year to do it.
So after the Mermaid show we did the Great Movie Ride and had lunch at the commisary. After that we went to the Stunt Show (1st time and loved it). On our way to the Caspian Exhibit we saw the line for Toy Story was 120 minutes!!! I happened to see a couple of cast members standing around and went to talk with them. I said "which one of you gentlemen would like to give me fast pass tickets for Toy Story? Now don't answer at once, think about it!" They smirked and I say one of the guys, Ray from Baltimore, reach in his pocket. I said "Ray, my man, Baltimore, beautiful city, love the harbour, go Ravens!" He laughed and asked who the tickets were for, I told him my wife and daughter, and he handed over 3 fast pass tickets good for any ride!!! He said "you must be in sales, enjoy the ride!"
In a state of euphoria I went and got my wife and daughter and she was amazed that I got them. Never underestimate a determined Jtrain!
LOVED the ride, got 189,000 and from there, our day was complete and we went to the resort, chilled at the pool and got ready for an early departure.
Now you're probably thinking that we missed a lot. This Disney trip wasn't even suppose to happen, so we decided to do the essentials. We've gone 5 years in a row and I'm sure we'll be back next year, this time when it's not so AFRICA HOT!!!
Now about the transportation....if they know a park is closing, why don't they send more buses? After all it is Disney and they can make anything happen, can't they?
All in all it was a wonderful trip with my darling wife and darling daughter. Spending time with them is the best thing in the world, even if it's standing at the bus stop!
I hoped you enjoyed my trip report, be sure to check out part one over in the Universal forums.
