I'm back from WDW but not getting on the scale quite yet.

The interesting thing was that it was SUPER easy to stay on a modified Atkins/SBD while we were there. I brought/bought cheese, Atkins bars, and water; ate fish at almost every meal; allowed myself a couple of desserts/adult beverages so I wouldn't feel deprived; and walked my tail off! Even at my cousin's wedding I had three small bites of cake and never wanted any more.

Now here's the kicker - it's been harder to get back on program once I got home (Sun) because I'm so darn sad our vacation's over. I cried all the way home on the plane, and I don't even have the energy to get excited over our October trip. The combination of having no food in the house plus being so sad has not been good for the program (read: pizza). But now I'm BACK! Went shopping today and it's back on the boards to see how TERRIFIC you all did since I've been gone. What great motivation!

I'm so glad I have you guys to come back to.

Welcome back Tiff!

I see you are DVC so that should give you something to look forward to. I don't know what I would do to stave off the sadness of leaving Disney if I didn't have at least the next trip in the works! Ha!

I'm so glad you did so well on vacation. Care to share some of the specific places you ate? I plan to stay OP while at Disney and I'd love any little tidbits you'd care to share.

Thanks in advance and we're glad you're back with us!!! :)

Thanks for the kind words Lisa!

Our first night, we ate at Olivia's. I had fish - maybe Snapper - with no starch. I think they gave me extra vegetables. Our server was very keen to the whole no carbs thing and asked if it was okay to bring bread to the table (I said fine, wasn't going to be tempted though I did make DH hide it behind the drink menu). The next morning we had breakfast at Olivia's and I had scrambled eggs with sausage and fruit. That day in Epcot I had sushi b/c I've been dying for it. I really didn't feel any ill effects from the rice. That night we ate at Flying Fish and I had salmon with asparagus (and one bite of sourdough bread w/ butter. Too tempting), and I did have dessert, which I refused to share with anyone. I ended up sharing (after making a big stink to the amusement of everyone) because it was so rich I couldn't eat it all! The next morning we had Atkins bars in the room because we were doing the Epcot Segway tour and had to be there by 8:45. Awesome tour, by the way. At noonish I had a Raspberry Shuss in France (sorta like moister cheesecake. I really wanted a Beaver Tail but they were closed.) and later had a chicken caesar salad (no croutons) at Typhoon Lagoon. I have to say it was a pretty great salad.

Friday night we had dinner at Boma and I had a little of this and that but mostly meat and salads. Their grapefruit/avocado salad is AMAZING. I'm still dreaming about it. Can someone come to my house and take all the white stuff off my grapefruit? The only bread I had was the flatbread, like indian papardum. Then I had a little dessert sampling (can you tell this is my weakness?). I have to say that I wasn't too keen on the Zebra Domes. I guess if I weren't splurging, maybe I wouldn't be so critical. The pineapple cheesecake was the best...and you know these desserts are tiny so I didn't feel too bad. In fact, I felt so great that I went right onto Tower of Terror!

We headed to New Smyrna Beach the next day where I ate lots of peel 'n eat shrimp, for lunch and dinner! Sunday morning I had a sugar-free mocha smoothie for breakfast (yum) and a shrimp/avocado salad for lunch. Yes, that's 3 shrimp meals in 2 days! I had a small steak on the plane and then we were home! (Is it scary that I can remember all this without looking at my journal?)

As you can see, I was not perfect, far from it. But I was a thousand times better than if I weren't trying to live a program so I'm pretty proud of myself. We'll see what the scale says on Monday!

You can do it! I did notice that the longer I was there, the more I strayed so maybe there's a way to keep yourself in check. Maybe I'll think of something before our week-long October trip.

Good luck!

Tiff - thanks so much for sharing your food experiences with me. I think you did wonderfully and hope you have maintained your weight or show a loss.

My trip is 5 days this time so hopefully I'll be able to stay focused and do as good as you. I've got a couple of buffet breakfasts planned (made to order eggs, breakfast meat and fruit are what I plan to focus on). For dinner, I plan on having counter service stuff and throwing away any conspicuous buns. I do want a couple of desserts and have some sugar free treats in mind. Did you happen to exercise while you were at Disney?

Thanks again for sharing your trip with us. You help me to see that it is possible to stay OP and enjoy myself at Disney.

You are so right Stacy! I ordered my pics from Shutterfly yesterday.

Lisa - I didn't exercise other other than walk walk walk while we were there. I had blisters on my blisters. My DH is an ex-marine and that guy will walk till there's nowhere else to go! I wish I had had a pedometer to see how much we walked. Swimming in the wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon also felt like exercise. That's a pretty strong current you're fighting against!

I did see women doing the stepclimbers in the gym at BW at 10 in the morning on an absolutely gorgeous day. Seemed like a waste to me (of course they were in excellent shape). If we were staying longer, I might have gotten in a weight routine one morning (though I might be kidding myself).

You'll do just fine, and I'm sure you'll have a fantastic trip. I can't wait to hear all about it!
